In 6 of the last 7 games, the Yankees have held their opponents to 2 runs or less through the first 9 innings. They've won one of those games.
The offense is what is keeping the Yankees from winning games. Any potential big move at the trade deadline would have been for a starting pitcher or a bullpen arm, not a bat.

They are still very likely to make the playoffs, albeit it is starting to look more like the wild card game. Fangraphs odds put them as making the playoffs 85% of the time.

I knew they were going to start killing it. A couple weeks ago I saw their run differential was very good but they were one of the worst in baseball in one run games. That had to start evening out some.

Still 50 games to be played, I still think the Yankees can take the division (fwiw I never said the a Jays wouldn't catch them but that the Yankees would still win the East)
