This is what has so many of this concerned right now.

If Harris isn't better that AJ we are looking at another 4-5 loss season.

you mean like when Miles referred to it as "the quarterback misery"?

Yeah, i expected him a say some good things about Harris being Jennings has been suspended the majority of the summer. Especially since the receivers have been raving about harris over the summer

And that is fine, although I have hope that if AJ does start, that he can improve

Watching all these quarterback threads over and over every day, it never seems to dawn on anyone that it's actually possible that BOTH quarterbacks are better than last year. Last season was Jennings FIRST SEASON as the starter, after only really playing one full game the season before. Harris was a true freshman. I'm not surprised that neither of them were that impressive.

I honestly don't care who the starter is as long as he's better than what we had last season! To say that Jennings "is who he is" after one season starting, is assinine. Harris APPEARS to have more natural ability, but I think both guys have the physical tools to be successful. The question is, how much has EITHER improved in the mental aspect of the game. If Jennings has improved and Harris hasn't, then Jennings should start. If Harris has improved and Jennings hasn't then Harris should start. I just want the most competent guy back there. I don't care WHICH of these two is the starter.

Perfect.

He completely avoided the question and stated all QB's will have to come in and compete at a high level.

that son of a bitch, he should have said what everyone already knows and that is Jennings sucks and needs to be shown the door, but he'll start anyway because he's Les' boy, even though Harris would start at any other school in the country

He got worse as the season progressed last year

But on the flip side, it can be a huge confidence builder to name a starter after spring and have him grasp the mantle of being the starter and become the leader of the offense. It also would allow the entire offensive unit to unite behind him. QB is often more than just on-field performance, it's leadership, instilling confidence, etc.

What is said by coaches in interviews is not the same as what is said by coaches in practice, team meetings, etc.

most rational fans don't....they want whoever the best player is to start.

but we have some real window lickers in our fanbase. the people screaming for Harris today will be screaming for Franks pretty soon.

He had arguably his best games against Texas A&M...

but you're right, he didn't really improve, but maybe another offseason could give him some clarity?

I don't know man, can I have some fricking hope?

You got to pass the Bill before you know what is in it!
You gotta see the first game before you know who will start. NOT!
We know.

because if AJ is still in the mix, then that means Harris isn't markedly better
That's not what it means.

Jennings started all but 1 game last year. You people act like replacing him is as easy as posting on a message board. It's not. There are more factors in this than just "who is the better player". He was essentially the leader of the offense last year. He was not really good but replacing the starting QB who's just going into his junior isn't an easy decision, especially when Miles is a guy who coaches with so much emotion and goes with his gut.
Very good.

This is not intended to be a knock on Les either. Both camps, the "Start Harris because he is clearly better" along with the "Les will play the best guy, period" crowd lack perspective.
I get it that changing QBs is a complex issue. But don't you think that if Harris gives LSU a better chance for victory, that Miles and Cameron will start Harris?

They did for the Auburn game last year.

Personally, I think Harris will be markedly improved this year. I would not be at all surprised to see him start.

t's like the idiots on this board actually think that Cam is going to come out and say "OMG guys!! did you see how bad Jennings played last year? lol he sucks so bad im surprised he still has a scholarship!! lol lmao omg....ofcourse Harris is going to start!!"

do you guys even pay attention to college football?

Is it too much to ask for our coach to be fricking honest sometimes? I mean, look at Harbaugh. He flat out said one QB was ahead after the spring game because he isn't scared to state the truth.

This. Harbaugh realizes a QB is absolutely pivotal to success. He brought in two transfers to compete and brought in a high 4* freshman and has another high 4* committed.

We brought in nothing last year except a guy barely rated above a 2*. It's as if we aren't worried about finding a QB.

Sadly, if AJ starts, we won't see HArris until the season is completely in the shitter.
