He refused to say anything specifically about Harris. After he said Harris has matured, he said that all of the QBs had and that you really start to see players rise in maturity and leadership in their 3rd year... I'll let you speculate who he's referring to there.

You're right. They don't want to give Harris anything. They want him to keep working to earn it.

That's not what it means.

Jennings started all but 1 game last year. You people act like replacing him is as easy as posting on a message board. It's not. There are more factors in this than just "who is the better player". He was essentially the leader of the offense last year. He was not really good but replacing the starting QB who's just going into his junior isn't an easy decision, especially when Miles is a guy who coaches with so much emotion and goes with his gut.

This is not intended to be a knock on Les either. Both camps, the "Start Harris because he is clearly better" along with the "Les will play the best guy, period" crowd lack perspective.

You and Salmon seem to be the only two freaking out.
Seems you two would be happier if the interview went unnoticed.

it's like the idiots on this board actually think that Cam is going to come out and say "OMG guys!! did you see how bad Jennings played last year? lol he sucks so bad im surprised he still has a scholarship!! lol lmao omg....ofcourse Harris is going to start!!"

do you guys even pay attention to college football?

I didn't hear it, but if that is what was said it's disappointing.

Getting arrested = rise in maturity.

No one in particular, just a general comment. Jennings hasn't been a part of a single team activity the entire summer so how exactly can you infer that that's who he was referring to?

Or maybe they don't want Harris to act entitled and to continue working hard.

Yes, there are emotional mind games that coaches play with players. Certain players need to be treated differently and coaches push different buttons to get the max effort and performance out of them. So I can acknowledge that could be the case here.

But on the flip side, it can be a huge confidence builder to name a starter after spring and have him grasp the mantle of being the starter and become the leader of the offense. It also would allow the entire offensive unit to unite behind him. QB is often more than just on-field performance, it's leadership, instilling confidence, etc.

Competition is great, but Harris surely knows if he doesn't work hard and perform, AJ is behind him. But not naming Harris as "the guy" after a horrific QB performance last year from AJ is very concerning.

could that have been a mistake and he was actually referring to Harris?

Jennings hasn't been with the team all summer so that just doesn't make sense if he was referring to Jennings

If Jennings is the starter, it's because both Miles and Cameron believe that Jennings gives LSU the best chance for victory.

100% agree. I don't say that because I think it would be Miles or Cameron's fault, but because it means Harris didn't take advantage of his time as the #1 guy this summer. That is all.

maybe he's referring to his experience as a coach and noticing that most players change in their 3rd year??

no...that couldn't be it. ofcourse he's talking about a single player that hasn't been with the team all summer.

I'd be happier if people didn't try to read into every little comment about the QB situation and make their conclusion off coach speak

It was in the context of a discussion about the QBs, so I dont know who else he could have been talking about other than Jennings. My impression of the ienterview is that the questions were geared toward getting him to give his true opinion about Harris and he was trying to avoid it.

I'd be happier if the coaches would acknowledge the struggles we've at this position and the concern that it gives most fans.
