Basically says he believes we have the best incoming talent in the country (even better than UK) and raves about the improvement of our returning players.

Anyone want to put some $ down on next year's NCAAT?

We should make it out of the first round, I'm normally a positiger all the way, but JJ just doesn't have it.

Dale got us to 2 F4s and two Elite 8s..

If he's Dale redux, he can do it, especially with the guys he has recruited for 2015-16.

Who's the head coach? 2nd round bust. I like my crow with tarter, so serve it up, JJ!

um, we will be on probation if we are "practicing" today? You meant watching them play pick-up. The coaches are on the road recruiting right now. july is a live period

Simmons is going to be an NBA hall of famer one day. It's just mind boggling to think he'll be a tiger next season. I'm so pumped.

Agreed. Jones doesn't have it.

I've watched Dale coach many games, and I've seen Johnny coach 3 seasons. My take away from what I have seen so far is Dale showed more fire in many SINGLE games than Johnny has shown in all of his 3 seasons combined.

Daddy Dale would have those guys so fired up they would run through a wall for him if he asked them to.....and sometimes that's exactly what he was asking them to do with the discrepancy in talent. It didn't hurt that many of his players loved him like a second (or first in some cases) father. One thing you never questioned was Dales dedication to his players first. They knew he had their back above all. I just simply don't see the same type of relationship between Johnny and these players that Dale seemed to have with so many of his players.

I am excited to have elite talent, but I believe we are going to need a Fab Five the second coming to win a NC with Johnny. The coaching is an issue. The lack of fire is a bigger issue.

We could only hope for this, but he's not.....

so he can't.

Anybody, and I mean ANYbody that thinks JJ is a solid game management coach is simply dumb. Great person, unbelievable recruiting, etc

But getting into the final minutes with equal talent against other coaches.....9 times out of 10 he will make more judgement mistakes. Which will ultimately lead to losses at the tourney levels.

Now throw in the fact our assistant left......oh boy. The hire better be a home fricking run!

Jay Bilas said he is a mini lebron I believe and thinks he's one of the best talents to come out in a while. His ball skills mixed with his size is pretty sick. Be prepared to see A LOT of top ten sports center plays.

When people tell me Coach Jones can't coach against teams with equal talent I just laugh at them.

West Virginia on the road......

Arkansas on the road......

NC State we were in perfect position. We were well prepared and were able to get get great, great shots near the end of the game. Jones can't take the layups for the team, but he got them in position to have layups to win that game...

Sometimes your luck just runs out and that happened this past tournament. That doesn't mean he can't coach against top talent.

He's beat great coaches, including Donovan and Calapari.

For someone to say he just "doesn't have it" after three years of continually getting better, beating very good teams, and improving the roster -- personally that sounds ignorant.

I think he is above average but needs to get INTO THE GAME more...Show me some passion, get into the game WITH your players...Show me a fist pump or something... There is a saying that a teams reflects the attitude of their coach... Last year I saw a lot of passive play and reaction after a real good play... That's what made Dale SOOOO special... His emotions and passion he bled into his teams......

I was coming to post the same thought SouthofSouth. LSU has improved every year Jones has been here.

I accidentally down voted your post when I was trying to upvote.

Rudy Macklin - LSU retired jersey Rudy Macklin?, who still lives and works in Louisiana, Rudy Macklin? Oh, I see he is probably up on seeing everyone's talent to make that statement, and above all, without bias...

Good luck this year.

Depth will make JJ a "smarter" coach.

What should be top on JJ's agenda for things to improve on is drawing up scoring plays for "inbounding the basketball" underneath the basket. It was painful watching us last year inbound the ball and throwing if 3/4 court to prevent the 5 second count.
