LSU Class Ring: now Toonces-free, would you wear one?

When did they get rid of Toonces? I want to shake the hand of whoever decided to move the LSU brand away from Toonces. The main reason I skipped buying a class ring immediately after graduation was that goddamn cartoon Tiger. I'm not in love with the eye of the tiger, but it's still a hell of a lot better.

IDK if I'd wear it, but I like the new look much better.

I don't like that style. I prefer the vintage/stamp look.

I wear one. Although it was my grandfathers, from 1959. I never would have bought one on my own.

I had one during the trounces era and wore it on game days, but I lost it.

Looking for a reason to order another one and this is probably it.

How much do they run now days?

I live in Houston and wear my LSU ring to work and at work/formal events.

Don't like wearing in general; too bulky.

Bummer is, my ring is from the spring of 2009 and my wife's is from the fall of 2008: mine has Toonces and hers has the classic logo.

$840.00 for a 10k yellow gold; if you want it in silver, it can be as cheap as $450 I think. But when your school colors are purple & gold, who wants silver?

They have a trade-in option for old rings, including other brands as long as they're at least 10k and stamped...but from what I'm reading online, they go out of their way to screw you on the trade-in credit value. So I may just take my old 10k high school ring to a jeweler and see what they're willing to give me in scrap value.

Serious question: does the purple stone in the center make you hesitate to purchase/wear this? The sides look nice, but the colored stone in the middle makes it look gaudy.

Just my opinion. Like every aggie, I wear my ring, but (even thought the size is a bit large) one of the things that I think make it look classier is the lack of any color besides gold/black.

No. I would never wear a class ring. It's not my bag. But the purple stone isnt why. I just think it's cheesy in general.

I think the stone looks as nice as any other class ring stone.

I think if I was still living in LA, I'd feel the same way. When I come back to visit family, I don't really wear LSU shite - it almost feels like wearing the shirt of the band you're seeing... don't be that guy. But now that I live out of state, I find myself going out of my way to wear LSU gear. I think a class ring would be a subtle way to show how obnoxiously obsessed I am with my alma mater while at work.

I agree, and that goes for all class rings, imo. Just my preference. Mine is the flat top look. No stone. I think it looks classy, and it's not big. I could wear it all the time, but I don't.

The only class ring I would ever wear is a aTm ring and only at work. Not because I went there, or would be proud of the school, or give a shite about A&M in any way shape or form. Purely because as an O&G engineer, they would think I was part of their cult. Basically a disguise .

LSU's ring is still hideous even without Toonces. Plus, as others have said. Learned my lesson quickly with my high school ring.
