The Aggie ring is the only tradition of Texas A&M that I like.

How did Josten's convince me and nearly everyone in my class that buying a $400 ring was cool/necessary/smart? That is a great con. I even wore that stupid thing my senior year of high school. What a dope.

This.

Never had a desire to get a college ring, I wore my high school one my senior year I think bc you get them as a junior.

idk where it even is now, probably somewhere at my parents house I guess.

Class rings (high school and college) are for losers. I wear my LSU on my sleeve and don't need a ring to let people know where I come from.

still would not wear. too big a chunk on your hand, no matter what is on it.

where does one wear that, fingerwise, if you are married?

Leo Sanford was a helluva salesman.

Credit to him, I saw him talk a female classmate out of having a diamond put on hers at significant expense. He told her to use the money to buy a diamond ring if she wanted one, but she would probably not wear the class ring more than a year.

He let us try on his 1958 NFL championship ring. Dude's finger was huge.

I think if I was still living in LA, I'd feel the same way. When I come back to visit family, I don't really wear LSU shite - it almost feels like wearing the shirt of the band you're seeing... don't be that guy. But now that I live out of state, I find myself going out of my way to wear LSU gear. I think a class ring would be a subtle way to show how obnoxiously obsessed I am with my alma mater while at work.

Yeah this is definitely how I feel when it comes to wearing A&M gear in College Station. The ring is a bit different due to the subculture of wearing it, but it isn't as noticeable.

Didn't know you could get it without the purple stone in the center. That would look much better.

This was the only pic I saw on google, I assume (even though it says law school) that it is the same for the main LSU undergrad ring? If so, that's a pretty good look.

That is the only ring available?

When I graduated, you could basically customize your own ring exactly the way you wanted it. You could buy it from 2 or 3 different companies, offering even more choices.

Well it looks better than the purple. If the undergrad ring doesn't have an option for the flat face with the seal on it, then I can understand why it wouldn't be popular.

The same way they get people to buy thousands on wedding rings, and how bars gets the customers to pay their payroll, and anything like that

Create the allure of "tradition" and it's a fricking gold mine. Print as much money as you want. Nothing compels people to spend money like expectation of society

I saw the same thing - I really wish they'd open that design up for undergrad rings. Could a third party company design something similar, or would the LSU licensing nazis get in the way?

these designs totally suck....

mine is a Balfour and has sabers on each sice of the Memorial Tower...and on the other side, the Pelican sinister feeding it's young (sinister in heraldry terms means facing left)..i don't wear it now as I have to get it sized to fit my right hand...

don't want to think about how much it'd cost today...it was $165- in 1974 and I thought that was high, but gold was no longer $35- per ounce...
