That would take decades of investigation or for one of the higher ups to flip on them.

If by that you mean- Still around with all their money intact- then you would be correct.

Old article, but still interesting, about how this guy lives.

Very doubtful. I believe Edward Snowden proved that point.

Agree 100%

I thought the same thing about his career when I saw that documentary. At some point, even Tom Cruise is too toxic, especially given the reports that people didn't like working with him because he'd bring in massage therapists for the cast and it'd turn out they were people from the church trying to evangelize about how great it was.

If Tom Cruise leaves the church, it's because it's a career move designed to make him more marketable under the auspices of being a good dad.

I was personally wondering if it was a bad thing for his child that hes involved. Who knows what other weird shite hed get into just to cope with removing the weird shite of scientology.

I don't see the connection between the two. Scientology has been successful because they suppress information from the outside world and openly threaten folks who leave the organization. Miscavige is one paranoid leader. He's always spending money on surveillance

All this surveillance he's buying is an old hat to the military. The government can easily intercept anything if it's a reliable threat. Anything. Period

They have had several high up guys leave, they are very good at identifying those people through their auditing sessions and knocking them down to nothing before they bolt.

Yea, I saw that in the BBC documentary on Scientology. The two guys who have real power in the Scientology community are Miscavige and his right hand man Tommy Davis.

Very doubtful. I believe Edward Snowden proved that point.
All Snowden really proved was that if you're enough of a self-righteous little weiner, you can actually TEACH the NSA how to make their security better and spy on people more effectively.

The Church's ability to manipulate the IRS is incredibly disturbing. Not even the mob could ever do that. I think their people are very well and strategically placed and they have enormous resources. It would take a lot to bring them down. To date, numerous people have come forward with proof of their wrongdoings and nothing has happened to them.

People as high up as Tommy have flipped, that's how Tommy has gotten as high as he has.

Rinder and Rathbun were very high up.

I thought they knew all of his dirty secrets and he couldn't leave. I guess we'll soon find out how much of a perv he is.

I think they'll make a deal in which both sides agree to give the public impression of an amicable parting and neither will criticize the other nor expose any secrets. Assuming they both have enough dirt on each other to achieve their mutual assured destruction, and in spite of how irrational their supposed belief system is, Cruise and the church both have too much to lose from a public squabble and will likely act in their own best interests.

Of course, there's also the fact that, if the "dirt" they have on him is homosexuality as many suspect, their leverage over him is steadily diminishing as public attitudes change on the subject. Exposing him as gay would likely not have nearly the consequences for him today that it would have had back when he first joined, or even just a few years ago. Meanwhile, whatever dirt he has on them is probably just as damning now as it ever was. These considerations also might cause them to make a deal with him. As a bonus, they'll also get the opportunity to publicly debunk one of the widely-believed (because it's true) criticisms of the church--that members are blackmailed into staying by the threat of being ruined by the exposure of their darkest secrets if they leave.

Of course, if he is able to separate from the church peacefully and without being attacked publicly, there's the question of what other church members might do after seeing that. They could be emboldened to leave the church themselves, hoping for a similar result. But, I have a feeling the church will be able to communicate effectively the same message they have been all along regarding Tom Cruise relative to other members. What he can do and what he gets and what they can do and what they get are very different things.

Supposedly, Miscavige's father is coming out with a tell-all book that will be very critical of Scientology and his son. He was a Scientologist for years, and actually introduced his son David to it, before being kicked out (or leaving on his own) some years ago.

Will read.

Isn't Miscavige known for violence in the office? I thought I remember a story about him beating the shite out of his employees to punish them.

His Napoleonic Complex is of epic proportions. That little shite needs to be publicly beaten and humiliated.

Yep, google search scientology musical chairs, they discuss it in the HBO documentary, but it's still a good read.
