It's not limited to California, it's just the place where it occurred.

I post on another board that is pretty largely populated with people from either the northeast, California or the midwest. They are currently having a feeding frenzy of disparaging southerners across the board like we're all one big rebel flag waving collective entity. (Note: I've recently stopped posting there. Too many morons.)

It's funny to me that the whole reactive impetus of the flag issue is the idea that you can't characterize a large group of people by stereotypes, such as black people being welfare-moochers, thieves, all the other ignorant racist bullshite. But this whole rebel flag flap has prompted self-righteous hypocrites all over the country to do the EXACT same thing when characterizing people from the south. And you can tell most of them have never even been south of the Mason-Dixon line.

One little psycho nitwit shoots a bunch of black people for racist reasons and suddenly we're ALL seen as being right on the verge of doing the same thing because... thuh flag!

It's amazingly narrow-minded and hypocritical. The very two things that race warriors are trying to eradicate. Go figure.

I never said they were other races. She pointed out a perceived difference on her part and had a concern. If I didn't say what their heritage was the story doesn't make sense.

It's gotten to the point where white women care more about these issues then the minorities themselves.

Tell him to go to Bakersfield and then compare it to how he's treated here.

When I was first hired at my current job I had to fly to Atlanta for an Expo show. I had dinner with some reps from New York and the first thing they asked me was, "Do you wrestle Alligators?"

It was actually quite nice and the people were friendly regardless of color, even in the "country".

I am finding that the most racist are urban white liberals. Country people are much more polite to other ethnicities for the most part - as long as they don't try to marry their daughter.

A guy who was in the Navy (from Michigan) with me asked how bad the gators where in Louisiana.

I told him I him I had to use my pirogue to get my mail every day while constantly beating away alligators with the oars.

That green square in NW Iowa is where my Grandfather was born. 98.1% white, Dutch and German. Easy to be non-racist liberal up there.

How come all you fuggers have such tiny counties? And save the comments that our big assed counties are compensating for something.

I spent the first half of my life in the Northeast (lived in NY and NJ), and moved down here when I was in high school. I can tell you from my experience, the northerners have no idea how anything is in the South. They mostly hate the south, and think it's nothing but racists and dirt roads. They love to say stuff like "at least we won the war." Northerners that have never visited the South think it all looks like The Dukes of Hazzard, and they usually believe every stereotype that Hollywood dreams up...especially in Lousiana....they think no buildings have air conditioning, that there's a Jazz Funeral down Bourbon St. every day, we all know Voodoo, and that you can be attacked by a gator a block outside the French Quarter.

FWIW...When I moved down here I was shocked to see the town I moved from was basically the same as the town I moved to in terms of socioeconomic qualities and everything else that could be found.
