This is how the liberals in the North view the South.

One of my coworkers is of Indian heritage (India).
He was in California a few years ago for a project, and the female PM asked how he liked living in Louisiana. He said it was great: Good people, good food, etc..
She interrupted him and said, No, how do they treat you?
We're all racist bigots down here, right?

Todd Barry (comedian) does a good bit on people asking him "what's it like to play down south."
"I tour the South, though, I do. I love touring the South. Some people up North are afraid of the South, it's weird. I'll do a show in, like, Alabama. I'll tell someone I did a show in Alabama and they'll be like, "Oh my God! What was that like?" Oh, you know, chairs, a microphone.

Of each race...and don't be fooled there isn't a higher percentage in the south compared to the north. Seeing that the north is pretty much segregated it seems the south is much more tolerant.

I think we should have north/south internships. All the liberals have to move to the south for 6 months and in turn conservatives have to endure a northern winter for 6 months. I'd love to see which opinions would change.

There are more in the North.
The areas in the North that have a huge minority population are extremely segregated, and the rest of the Northern States have something on the order of 7% or less total minorities.

I have an army buddy who is a Latino and His wife is purely Japanese. They were both raised in the US but you get the point.
They were coming here for a visit for a week or two. She actually asked me "is it safe". I was clearly confused. I said "what do you mean"? She said "you know, I'm Japanese and Ramon is Mexican". I died laughing.
I told her "you know we don't have any Japanese or Mexican Restaurants here because of that" in a real serious tone. Then I started laughing again.
I live in a very rural place in LA. They came here and she actually told me "Wow, there is very little racial tension here. Where we live in Redondo Beach there is a ton".
She was shocked to find that it wasn't what she was told it was. It was actually quite nice and the people were friendly regardless of color, even in the "country".
