But he clearly wanted to be remembered for doing this. The fact he sat around in the bible study for an hour and asked to be seated next to the pastor is pretty chilling information.

he is actually a psychopath.....they are typically quite charming, likable and have established twisted goals.

im behind on this whole story. I mean i heard about it but just been to busy to read details. After reading this and other things about the killings.. it makes me sick to my stomach. I dont understand how anyone can do such things. It is absolutely no excuse, but the guy 100% has a mental issue. While that does not excuse his actions, that is the only way i can believe someone can do these types of things to another human being.

CBS interviewed one of his friends from HS. Apparently he was a loner.

Judge probably won't let him plead guilty to a capital offense and get the death penalty without at least a sentencing hearing where his lawyers will use insanity as a mitigating circumstance. He could plea in exchange for waiving death penalty but there is no way the prosecution forego the DP here.

Supreme Court says a defendant cannot just volunteer to take the DP without a sentencing hearing.

I would have rather he just went down in suicide by cop. I don't want to spend the next year listening to the shitstorm this is creating. Plus it gives him way more than 15 minutes of fame.

He claims that he wanted to start a civil war.

The 21-year-old accused of killing nine black churchgoers in Charleston, South Carolina, had been “planning something like that for six months”, his roommate has revealed, as friends recalled Dylann Roof’s tirades against African Americans “taking over the world” and his desire to ignite “a civil war”

2 things

How some still can't agree with death penalty in a situation like this is hard for me to understand.

How the police officers who arrested him kept their cool is also hard for me to understand

And that is one of the problems with our culture. We want to sweep events like this under the rug and move on. Which means when the next mass shooting happens we'll use the same old terms. But not learn anything for the incident.

He's probably been brainwashed into thinking all black people are out to rape and kill all white people that when he actually saw that it wasnt the case, it actually shocked him.

he should have never pulled out his gun and executed nice people...it actually pisses me off more now knowing he came to this conclusion and still opened fire

I've been reading a lot of the articles that have come out yesterday and today.

This kid is a sick frick. It takes a truly evil person to execute 9 people after you sat with them in church for an hour. He doesn't deserve to live another minute.

I honestly can't imagine feeling this level of hatred towards anyone. I was never taught racism as a child. I was taught that a person is a person, regardless of the color of their skin. It is really hard for me to comprehend how a person can have so much hatred towards an entire race of people.
