One of my favorite gangster movies from the 90s
Wish there was a way to make a sequel

Love this movie but I don't need a sequel.

You should check out Get the Gringo. Mel plays a similar type of character.

William Devane has the best scene in the movie.

Love this movie. I remember having low expectations for it and it being just really good, and pretty funny as well.
"He's just killing my alligator bags and shooting holes in my suits...man, that's just MEAN!"

I saw Devane mentioned, who I loved in it too, and instantly thought of this line from Coburn.

Absolutely great movie. Watch it whenever it is on.

I love how no one can believe that all he wants is this small, specific amount of money he is owed, yet no one will just give it to him and write it off.
"I have suits that cost more than that!"

Best part of the movie is how he constantly corrects everybody down to the correct amount of $70,000.

It's a great running joke, but it also points out how crazy it is that no one in the Syndicate just gives him the money and then takes it out on Reznick (I think that was his name).
But I love the cops. They are my favorites.

I love how he gets their fingerprints on the gun. That was great.
Also, hard to ever hate Bill Duke in anything.

If you like to read the books the movie was based on are great.
Donald E. Westlake
Donald E. Westlake
quote:
Richard Stark: Westlake's best-known continuing pseudonym was that of Richard Stark. Stark debuted in 1959, with a story in Mystery Digest.[4] Four other Stark short stories followed through 1961, including "The Curious Facts Preceding My Execution",[4] later the title story in Westlake's first short-story collection. Then, from 1962 to 1974, sixteen novels about the relentless and remorseless professional thief Parker and his accomplices (including larcenous actor Alan Grofield) appeared and were credited to Richard Stark. "Stark" was then inactive until 1997, when Westlake once again began writing and publishing Parker novels under Stark's name. The University of Chicago began republishing the Richard Stark novels in 2008.[5] When Stephen King wrote the novel The Dark Half in 1989, he named the central villain George Stark as an homage to Westlake.

Big fan of Payback but per my usual posting as part of my contract I have to remind everyone to be sure to check out the original with Lee Marvin.

Sometimes filters are distracting, but I liked the Blue-hue & heavy contrast in this.
