After reading various dumb posters in the Rant today, I wanted to bring them back off the ledge...

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BEING TOO GOOD.

LSU is ranking 3rd in Batting Average and 11th in ERA, Nationally. Keep digging into the numbers and it just gets better and better for us.

SEC Champions, SEC West Champions

SEC has the #1 RPI in the Nation as a Conference and LSU won the Regular Season Title.

46 Wins - Leads Nation
83.6% Winning Pct. - 2nd in Nation
28-6 Home Record - 2nd in Nation
14-3 Road Record - 2nd in Nation
25-1 Non-Conf Rec Winning Pct - Leads Nation
25-1 Non-Conf Rec - 2nd in Nation

7.2 Scoring - 13th Nationally
3.6 Scoring Defense - 14th Nationally
+3.6 Scoring Margin - 3rd in Nation

RPI - 5th in Nation
16-4 Record vs. RPI Top 50 - 2nd in Nation

But yeah, they are overrated.

Those folks are just trying to set themselves up to not be disappointed. I think makig Omaha is still a >50% chance but at the end of the day it's baseball and any team can beat us on any given day.

They're not overrated but they do have some weak spots that could be their undoing.

But that's any team. No team is perfect.

LSU is really really good.

We are really good, but we still have questions. Especially in the late inning bull pen department.

We have what it takes to go all the way, no doubt.

But its not always that easy. Gotta get hot and stay hot.

In the end its baseball, it doesnt always fall the way it should.

They're good and had a great regular season.

People follow closely and see flaws. What's wrong with that?

How many blown leads in the 9th? I know it's at least 7.

In retrospect, the 2013 team was very good. Probably my favorite team ever.

I think this team is every bit as good as that one.

After those blown leads? at least 4... probably more. You don't think that's a problem?

I think people are just scared Mainieri has another overcoaching moment like he did last postseason or if Lange has a bad start we are "doomed" or if the bats go cold one game where the pitching isn't as dominant as it has been.

This team is very good, and has as good a chance as anyone to win it all. Let's see if the breaks also fall our way, because in baseball you need that too.

every team has weak/weaker spots

I think the bullpen isn't as strong as some in the past with those shutdown guys, but we have a handful that are pretty consistent

With that said, it can almost be a good thing if a main guy struggles because we have faith in a few guys behind him

Have to be leading heading into the 9th to blow the lead. I think we are pretty good at that.

And we were supposed to blow through Stony Brook and Houston too. I am just cautiously optimistic. There are no guarantees.

I agree tadelatt, LSU is a great team by all objective measures. LSU looked great in 2013 as well and didn't win in Omaha. In fact a clearly inferior team(State) got to the finals.

Last year, Vandy objectively was an inferior team to many of their recent teams that didn't get to Omaha and they won it all.

Upsets occur in other sports, but in baseball, they don't even call them upsets.

LSU has as good a chance as any and perhaps all other teams to win it all. Looking forward to the post season.

Absolutely. I just don't understand why people get defensive when ours are pointed out. Like the post after yours. Blowing late game leads has been an issue. But instead of accepting that, he ignorantly deflects.

I can say we are the best team in the country 100 times in this thread. It's true, of course. But mention one fault that's also true, and people ask how many championships you've won as if that has any relevance whatsoever.

Personally, UCLA is the only team that really scares me. Their pitching staff is unbelievable.

I don't think that's accurate.

I could only find 2.

It could be a problem, if it was actually a problem. This team lost 9 games total, and you're claiming at least half were lost after blowing a lead in the 9th inning.

Nicholls - LSU was losing well before the 9th.
Ole Miss - LSU lost lead in the 9th.
Arkansas - LSU was losing before the 9th.
Kentucky Game 1 - Tied after the 7th.
Kentucky Game 3 - LSU lost lead in the 9th.
Auburn - LSU shut out until the 8th, down 4 going to 9th.
TAMU - LSU down 3 going into 9th.
Miss St - LSU came back to tie in the 9th.
SCAR - LSU losing after 7th.

So 2 losses after blowing a lead in the 9th.
