My little girl turns 6 in a week and she really wants a hamster. Grandma is paying for animal and cage and expenses so leave cost out of it.

I've read online where they can be difficult. Can anyone confirm? I've also read where Guinie pigs are much better but must be in pairs and not sure I want two.

I'm looking for minimal maintenance.

Thanks is advance

dude, it's a hamster

make sure it had food and water and change the bedding every few weeks or so and you're good

just have to be a little careful when it's eating, they will bite

We have a hamster for our nearly 6 year old. He's worked out pretty well. The first 6 months were dicey because we brought the little bastard home and my genius wife stuck her hand in to pull him out the box and got bit. About an hour later the kid(4 at the time) went in there and got her arse bit too sticking her hand in it's cage. I called him vampster for a while there. Fast forward six months and he's very tame. We put him in the ball, hold him and let her pet him or feed him. Watch him bury shite in his cage, etc.

I like him because unlike the fricking cat we had; I don't have to spend $1,000 on it when it gets sick. He just gets replaced.

Fish. Feed daily, clean bowl once a week. Flush. Repeat.

Alligator is your best choice at this point. They are not difficult, all you need to do is feed it live animals (any pesky neighbors' pets that need to disappear?) and you'll be good to go.

Get her a fish. If she wants to hold/coddle the hamster and squeezes too hard, bye bye hamster.

Had two guinea pigs growing up. Those frickers would get out of their cage and leave little shite pellets everywhere

african sulcata tortoise

We have one for our 8 year old. Got him 2 years ago as a hatchling. Very easy upkeep. Just get the right lighting and heat lamp. They live over 100 years. Do not stink and make no noise. Cool to watch in the yard
