Homemade tacos

I've always used the store bought taco kits, but after eating it today, I realized I could probably do better. Anyone have tips for seasoning ground beef similar to what you get in a restaurant?

My wife did a pork butt on the green egg today and we had pulled pork tacos for dinner. I put an over easy egg on mine and that runny yolk was good.

We do homemade tacos at least once a week.
I always add onion and bell pepper to ground beef and then seasoning and let simmer for 15 min.

Chili powder, cumin, salt, onion, garlic. Really can't go wrong with that

You don't get ground beef in tacos at good places. So get rid of that. And as you have discovered, store bought seasoning mixes are a bastardizatuon of what tacos are. My best taco is a sautéed onion garlic zucchini and portabello. ...then I make a Chipotle, ginger and lime aoili to go over the mix.....corn tortillas always. You could add pork or chicken to that and cut out the portabello . I also male a grilled salmon taco with a Chipotle mayo and add gobs of fresh basil mint and cilantro.

get your hands on some yellowfin tuna. cube the steaks into 1/2 inch cubes. soak them in a orang/lemon/lime juice mixture for two days. mix mayo and greek yogurt 50/50. get some shredded cabbage.
floured tortilla
tuna cubes (after you take them out of juice and season them)
cabbage
drizzle mayo/yogurt mix

We also make tacos about once a week. It's a good use for all the ground deer meat, and my kids love them. My wife buys the taco seasoning in the shaker like Tony's and just adds enough until it tastes good.

I typically use chili powder, cumin, salt and then sauté some onions before browning the meat. I also throw some garlic in when the meat is simmering. Sometimes I'll throw some diced jalapeño in with the onions.

I'd kill for a few tacos right now. Onions and cilantro...yum.
