The 2015 Waterfowl Hunter Survey was launched earlier this week. We sent out 3,000 mail-in surveys to randomly selected hunters, 3,000 postcards to another random sample with a link to do the survey on-line, and we sent e-mails to another 20,000-plus waterfowl hunters who had e-mail addresses in the LDWF hunting-license database. We are strongly urging all hunters that receive those surveys to complete them according to the instructions received. Those surveys provide the most representative and scientifically-valid information.

We will send out a press release on Friday announcing the survey and post a banner link on the front page of the LDWF website so that all other hunters not selected for one of those 3 survey modes can participate in the survey.

Although the open-web survey is a biased sample because participants tend to be more avid, dedicated hunters that hunt more and kill more than average, our research from doing mail-out and open-web surveys concurrently has shown striking similarity in responses to 'attitude' or 'satisfaction' questions. Consequently, the open-web surveys have been incredibly valuable in increasing participation and information for evaluating support for potential management and regulatory actions.

We hope that all waterfowl hunters receiving a survey via USPS mail or e-mail will complete those surveys, and any hunter NOT selected for one of those surveys will go to the LDWF website and take the open-web survey.

Got the e-mail this morning and filled it out. The biggest issues I had this year (hunting WMA's in NWLA) was hunter-crowding and lack of birds. There's not much to do about the latter, but the former was pretty bad this year. People setting up within earshot of us numerous times. Made me want to club a baby seal.

Do you get any information out of me completing it saying I didn't hunt because I'm tired of spending money on shitty seasons?

Filled out, and I've got to agree with the crowding... wanna be duck commanders... I've had numerous times the past two years of people coming to a pond, realizing we're in it, and setting up one pond over

Just filled it out.

Other than the crowding at WMAs, etc., I realllly wish they would throw a weekend back into the West Zone split.

Season is open every single weekend from start to finish. A few years back, it was like a fresh start coming back into the second split after a good rest for the birds.

Mr Larry, do you have a name or email where I can contact someone with a legality question dealing with crops?

did it this morning.

i didn't have a problem with overcrowding on WMAs, but i don't hunt the easy-to-get-to spots. hell, half of my scouting is dedicated to getting away from other hunters.

I received the email and will respond later this week.

I would like your advice Mr Reynolds:

How should I fill it out to increase the season?

I'm doing the survey now.

Psst....pssst...hey...whats the answer to this one?

Would you prefer the current 3-zone system (Option A), a new 3-zone system (Coastal, West, and East) with an expanded East Zone (Option B), or a 2-zone system (North, Coastal) (Option C) for a 60 day duck season in the future? Under Options B and C, the northern boundary of the Coastal Zone is proposed as --
Hwy 90 from the MS border to its junction with LA-14,
West along LA-14 to its junction with I-10, and
West along 1-10 to the Texas border.
