Sometimes you have to dig deep to see why things really are the way they are! White players sure aren't getting in the NBA based on their athleticism so they need to be great shooters.

Also killing a teams flow and momentum. Teams are no longer in their rhythm if they are stopping every minute or so to wait on DAJ to brick his free throws.

The same goes for the team that is fouling. It kills their momentum, and allows the defense to set up, thus making it harder to score in the first place.

I've never watched NBA basketball through a Klan hood.

Not at all. Come on man

If you can ball, you can ball. The race thing is archaic.

considering they strong-armed an owner into selling his team for a comment he made in private, your post doesn't seem as far fetched as it normally would.

I mean, yeah, hack-a-shaq gained popularity on a black player, but to suggest that black NBA players have a problem shooting free throws is absurd.

Hell, OKC was hacking Splitter back in 2012

What makes Asik a prime candidate but not Josh Smith? He's over 8 percentage points better.

IMO, it's the same as taking advantage of a player that can't play defense, but may be a great shooter. It's all part of the game. I don't particularly enjoy watching it, but FT shooting is a basic skill. A coach has to figure out if everything else he does is worth the trade-off.

But it's only part of the game because a stupid, easily fixable rule makes it part of the game. Having to have all 5 of your players be good free throw shooters was NEVER meant to be part of the game. A rule was added to penalize teams for playing poor defense and fouling. As it turns out, what was supposed to be a penalty has ended up on occasion being a reward or an excuse to not play defense. A simple fix makes the penalty an adequate deterrent as it was intended to be without having a negative impact on the rest of the sport.

That he requested to be recorded. His dumbass lost the privilege of NBA ownership, end of story.

And again, there is absolutely NO valid reason to make hack-a-whoever about race. Pure poppycock.

I agree with that

I was joking about them making the rule to keep white players out of the NBA but I was serious about the part about white players having to be better shooters to make it into the NBA since on average they are not as athletic as black players.

Did anybody catch Mike Tirico last night during the Rockets/Mavericks game almost say something "racist" about JJ Barea?

He said something like "if the 26 players on these teams playing were at the YMCA and you got to pick teams, JJ Barea would be the last guy picked, looks-wise because he's.... short... and.... well.. he would just be the last guy you would pick. And yet he was huge for the Mavs during their Finals run a few years ago".

He definitely wanted to say because he's white but he stopped himself, even though it was completely obvious what he was getting at.

You don't think getting StrongSafety and some other idiots riled up is a valid reason?

I mean J.J. Barea is Latino, not white if that makes a difference. He's just a tiny human being.

You can be Latino and white just like you can be Latino and black.

Again no one is asking these guys to shoot 80%. Just make over 50%.

Fixing something that isn't broken because of a few guys is a terrible policy.

You live in KC right? Do you know a guy named Will Monie (pronounced Money)? I doubt you do but I figured there may be a chance.

Sorry, I meant that Latino guys for the most part are even less likely to be picked at a local YMCA game than a white American.

I understand wanting to make the game more entertaining, but just make your free throws. It's really not that hard. I can not play basketball for a year, and then go practice for 1 day and shoot at least 75%. I just don't get it.

Nah, can't say I do. I actually live about 45 mins away from KC near the air force base.

Why couldn't the coach have the option to "decline" free throws for intentional off-ball fouls, and can opt to take the ball out.

I don't understand why anyone would have an issue with this change. It is no different than football coaches declining penalties.

Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to adding the option to decline free throws at any time in the game, including on-ball fouls at the end of the game. It would do a wonder for the game IMO. It is frustrating that 45 minutes of the game are played in an epic fashion, and the other 3 minutes feature some of the worst entertainment I've ever seen.
