Davis is very good on defense. He also makes mistakes on defense. He is still easily the best defensive player on the team even with those mistakes.

He is a 3rd year big who literally has no limit to his game on the court. He sticks to guards and bangs in the post on a regular basis. That can be a bit overwhelming for anyone, let alone a 22 yo. To be clear, he's not the only guy who makes mistakes on this team. Oh, and he is also the focal point of the team's offense on any given possesion.

It's truly remarkable how much he does for this team. We are all exceedingly lucky to watch him play every night.

+1

It seems like its become a "cool" internet thing to point out that Davis isn't a truly elite defensive player...yet. Every board I go to there's always people who can't wait to jump in with, "Davis isn't as good on defense as people think."

Draymond Green mentioned after the game how much Davis changes the game just on pure intimidation. He talked about missing that layup because he thought AD was there. Davis wasn't in the area.

Its almost getting to the point where he's becoming under appreciated for what he does on defense.

I mean look at this:

Davis is 43 minutes in at this point, gassed, and Cunningham passes off STEPH CURRY to our PF/C. Davis buckles down and is ready to go before Kerr calls a timeout. What other big man in the league has that type of responsibility?

Protect the paint, oh and we might also need you to guard Steph one-on-one when our other guys are afraid of getting crossed up on national tv.
