Is this the part where you justify slavery or absolve Europeans and blame blacks because certain African tribes participated in it?

What about what the black people did to their self? How they sold their own into slavery. That never seems to get mentioned by blacks.

Back to the OP, those leaked emails just prove once again that you can't believe anything coming out of that Box of Satan you call a TV.

I still can't understand why this is an issue? Blows my mind that anyone would judge Affleck on what his ancestors did or why he even gives a shite. It's been a loooooong time and one can either be proud of it or humbled by it. Whatever the case, it has nothing to do with us. What a bitch....

if you don't know just say so but no this is not that part

They couldn't have been too pissed off if they were willing to do that.
Because I'm sure they stayed because they were happy to do so, and it wasn't because there were laws requiring them to sign labor contracts with whites otherwise they'd be jailed. It was illegal in some states for blacks to own their own business, be employed by other blacks or own land and farm for themselves. This is after the Civil War.

People really care about this or surprised?
I mean any high profile person with a brain would try to do this.

It depends what time period, area and country you are speaking. But many prominent families like the Rothchilds had a financial stake. Some of the noble and and I believe royal families in Austria did as well. Many historians have argued, the slave trade was the start of modern capitalism, consumerism and globalization.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as benevolent slavery, under any circumstances it is cruel and twisted
Good is not the enemy of perfect. It is horrible that a Jew has to live in a secret compartment in my basement for two years, subsisting on stale bread and water, and it is wrong of me to allow it. But considering the alternative, the Jew and I may both feel it was the best possible arrangement available.
That's precisely why we DON'T want to "revise" history too much, as viewed from our air-conditioned 3000 square foot homes, it all gets a little distant from the realities of the period we are revisiting. We tend to simplify and put complex people and ideas into neat little 21st Century boxes, rather than honestly examine the difficult human choices real-life humans had to make at their exact moment in time. Which is exactly what Ben Affleck wants to do. He is uncomfortable with TRUTH and the implications thereof for his Liberal Fundamentalism.

What do you think would happen if, say, (insert the name of any person who claims to NOT be a liberal) tried to do what Affleck did?
Do you think PBS, the media, and a racist like Gates would help them cover it up?
Nope. Front page news. Easily. For days.
That's the "issue" here.

Phenomenally educational, I'm very grateful I had a small part in helping with one of the exhibits.

Well now we are speaking the same language.
it's ironic that the same people that started it made it illegal in the 18 hundreds. I wonder why

Theres over 35,000 black millionaires in this country today
In Africa today they are still splitting a piece of rice four ways
Someone explain to me the slow turning wheels of justice and opportunity for blacks in this country

Revision is good when more concise information is learned....revision is bad when historical facts are changed....you said there were no black confederate soldiers, evidence disputes that - = bad

There are honest teachers who have the confidence to wade through evidence and let it lead them where this evidence goes. And there are Moral Nannies masquerading as teachers/Professors who dishonestly lecture what The Narrative demands. Neither Affleck or Gates are interested in honesty or fact, and that should surprise no one. They are Fundamentalist Liberals, and slaves to Marxist Race Narrative. They would both threaten you/fight you at a dinner party for disagreeing with them. The totalitarian mind in action. Agree with me or you are a slack-jawed racist who lives in a trailer.
