What do you do to stay in touch with nature?

I'm thinking of walking from Lafayette to New Orleans on hwy 90.

Kayak. You dont have to fish. Get a camera and a kayak. Get some neat pics so you can prove it happened.

Start fly fishing on a yak. You can look down on inferior bait fishermen, it's awesome.

I go camping with friends, sit around a fire, listen to music, get drunk, cook.
Are you talking about only things in Louisiana?

Many cypress trees surround the Prop Stop. Easy place to get back to nature.

The most outdoorsy we get is gardening. Beyond that, sitting on the patio or by the fire pit.

I've been considering hiking, but hesitant because summertime seems difficult for someone who doesn't spend a lot of time outdoors.
