"Chris Kennedy and Steven Hooter brought 15.85 pounds of redfish to the scales Saturday to win the season's second stop in the Louisiana Saltwater Series. The tournament was held out of Bridge Side Marina in Grand Isle."
Surprised that only 36 teams participated and even more surprised that 11 of the 36 didn't weigh in a single redfish in Grand Isle of all places. Has the redfishing fallen that far off down there to where close to 1/3 of the teams are zero'd. Even in horrible conditions years ago any novice could catch two reds down there.

Went offshore on Saturday, but I'm sure the weather held a lot of them off. We stayed wet the whole day.

If you want to finish in the money for redfish tourneys, you don't fish around GI... those fish are plentiful, but skinny by comparison.
With the weather predictions leading up to it I'm not suprised at all with the low numbers. You have to make a run to catch 15 to 16 lbs from there and the bad weather predicted kept a lot of us at home.

Like the others said, the weather was predicted to be terrible. Couple that with the fact that it's hard to get down to Grand Isle to scout if you aren't familiar with the area, and some of them don't have to know-how or the boats to make the run to St. Bernard, and that's why there were such low results for that tournament.

Team name is even funnier... Fuzzy Hooter.
Good guys, fun to be around. They have been around the sport a long time and been consistently successful.

If guys have 11 pounds or less they don't weigh in. I guess for fear of embarrassment. There's plenty down there, but IMO not as many as Delacroix and Venice.

Possible.
There have been a few times when I simply let them go before the run back to weigh-in. If I had a long run that I knew was going going to get a little rough , why beat the fish up in the livewell when there was little chance of cashing a check. Less about embarrassment and more about the fishes health.

That too. We fished it one time and had one good fish and a small one. Buddy decided to not haul arse back in. We would have placed in the money lol

That Saturday we saw guys fishing that tourney all the way near the sulphur mines. Later in the day we were in little lake and saw a handful of guys heading back in. Saturday was in the middle of that front that came through. The Reds were very finicky that day. We ended up only boating 1 red. They wouldn't eat. Had much more luck with trout which was the exact opposite of what we expected with the weather. Was a weird day. Like caught a Spanish mackerel near little lake weird. Makes me feel better the redfish pros couldn't get on em either

Never believe what tourney guys say about fish locations, especially experienced ones that just won a tourney and have more tourneys to fish in the near future If Fuzz said he caught them in Delacroix, then he went to Lake Boudreaux... near Chauvin...

Highly likely, shortish run from G.I. and gives up OK bags in spring and EARLY summer. Once the summer hits and the river drops, it can't typically compete with Venice, so folks just pass it up and head to Venice. Do like fishing that area, less pressure typically and can find clean water.
