Last time I checked the Habs have won multiple cups since your fake arse team has.
I'll give you credit you lived through Milbury but still the Isles don't have as much history as the Oilers who joined the league 10 years later.

Part of it is the fanbase. Blues and Caps fans don't cheer in the playoffs, they wait for the other shoe to drop... it filters down to the players. It's palpable, the sense of dread.

Note that I included my own team in that analysis. Caps fans have that same sense of impending doom come the playoffs. and just a cursory look at this thread shows Blues fans have the same feeling.
So, yeah. Part of it is the fanbase. You can just feel it when you're in the building: everyone expects bad things to happen, they just aren't sure what. And players feel it, too. It takes on a life of its own and in a way, it's far more pressure to play for the Caps, Blues, and Sharks in the playoffs than for the Habs or Bruins. Their ghosts help their teams. Our ghosts torment us.
