Good move or bad move?

I moved down here a year and a half ago to take an internship with the Rays. Once the internship ended I decided to stay because Tampa winter is more bearable than Baton Rouge winter. The career field I am in now is a pain in the arse and I hate it. I am single and in my mid 20s. Figure now might be the perfect time to try something new.

Sounds like youve already made your mind up. Go for it before you lay down roots.

Sounds like it's your job not the geography. No way I'd give up the Tampa Bay area for Austin all things being equal in the job department. But if your miserable where you spend 5 out of 7 days a week and have better options in Austin then do it.

I'd do it. Babe to male ratio here is like 6 to 1. It's a free for all

As much as I would normally say "it depends," if you hate what you're doing and Austin presents a new opportunity for you to grow in, while Tampa does not, then it really isn't a question. With no family or other responsibilities holding you to Tampa, go to Austin. I don't think it's all it's cracked up to be, but it certainly presents great opportunities in a growing business environment with tons of what New Orleanians call "culture," but without the bad "culture" they brush under the rug.

Come on, man. If you're not happy in Tampa, then you're not going to be happy ANYWHERE that you live.

Everyone goes to Austin to "find themselves" so good luck finding a job unless you already have one lined up.

It's on the decline since the locals are progressively becoming more and more agitated by the increase of young adults flooding the city.

Still a great town of you're a music lover.

Don't move here. Move to Dallas. Austin going to be just like Dallas in a few years anyway.

Did you just pick Austin out of an ironic top hat, or do you have a job lined up?

I know it's cool to find yourself in a hip city, but make sure you have a source of income ready to go, or you'll find yourself panhandling on the streets in that hip city.

I think Austin is great. However, I don't know how it compares to where you are now.

Tampa was the best city that I've ever lived in. St Pete has had a remarkable come back in the last decade or so. It used to be a horrible place. I would be hard pressed to move to anywhere inTexas vs a coastal city in Florida.

You should move to Orlando and look into doing a Disney internship. I think they will pay you to do that.

Why can't you find another job in Tampa? I heard it's awesome for yuppies.

If you have a great job offer lined up in Austin, take it. If you aren't happy in Tampa, what would make you happy in Austin. Scenery change can also change your mood though, so I say go for it.
