It's popular among hipsters who only watch soccer and no other sports because they like things that most people don't like.

They'll grow tired of it and that will be the height of soccer's popularity in America.

the more people watch the more they will realize soccer is MUCH more exciting than football is. The only reason football competes is because our greatest athletes play and it's marketed down our throats.

objectively, soccer is the greatest sport and it's not close.

Not compared to sports such as football, basketball, baseball, hockey, MMA, etc. I'll watch it if it happens to be on bar television in front of me. I like the game just fine as a rule, I just don't have the same emotional investment

I'm not a huge MLS guy, but I follow the Premier League pretty closely. Spending the fall watching soccer and football, you quickly realize which is the better sport.

Football has so many commercials, stoppages, penalties, etc. Also, people don't want to acknowledge it, but a very high number of the scores are boring. In soccer, 90% of the goals are awesome, especially at the high levels. They have to be to beat the defense.

why do people insist of claiming their opinion is an objective fact?

The difference is football has "measurables". Every play can be broken down (from a fan's perspective) as good or bad. This fills in that space in soccer where less experienced viewers say "nothing happens". Also, football is incredibly slow (much slower than soccer) the difference is people know exactly when to pay attention and when they don't have to.

Yeah I really enjoy Soccer but I've got to agree. Hardcore soccer fans are terrible at it.

The NBA is my favorite, but I know it isn't for everyone.

I only get annoyed when people use anecdotal evidence as reasons for why they don't like a certain sport.

you spend money for an MLS package you don't even passionately follow? that's fricking retarded.

The MLS package isn't all that expensive. $75 gets you the entire season.

Though this is much more than what I paid for it just a few years ago. I think the first year I got it the price was just $20.

His logic seems flawed.

He's basically saying the equivalent of Kobe Bryant isn't good because he's not as good as Michael Jordan.

I'm obviously being facetious since by definition my opinion can't be a fact. But what is fact is that soccer is by far the most popular sport in the world.

It's much more user friendly than football. Anyone can play without having to worry about buying expensive gear and getting your head bashed it. There are no time outs, no water breaks, no coaches trying to get an advantage by crying about player safety, and the rules never change. Imho it is far superior.

Not really. And soccer has easily become my favorite sport over the last couple of years.

Watching MLS is like being in China and watching the Chinese Basketball Association. Or like being in Europe and watching NFL Europe when it existed.

It's not exciting when you are not watching the best of that sport, but the equivalent of D-list players.

I follow EPL for the most part.

But yes I like MLS and find the league is improving and the Portland/Seattle fan bases are just as passionate as you will find in the US.

I also enjoy going watch the New Orleans Jesters play at Pan Am.

Soccer is just a great sport to watch, can't get enough of it.

I only watch soccer during World Cup. I can really get into it, but only during that time. Not a fan of the Pts system where the championship game could end in tie and someone still win

It's pretty clear that most of you haven't watched MLS in years, if at all. Kaka, David Villa, Giovinco, Robbie Keane, etc. are not 'D-list players'
