I care more about my lawn and would rather watch the grass grow than watch MLS.

true and a point often cited in favor of its play in third world countries... I've yet to hear an explanation from the soccer elitists as to why they don't promote tag for populations that can't afford round objects

soccer actually has a pretty fair number of concussions and subconcussion impacts (mostly because heading is a part of the game and this results in head to head impacts between players)

no coaches trying to get an advantage by crying about player safety
you're going to have to explain that one. it seems like a misunderstanding of safety rules in hockey or football. certainly the hysterics from the coaches in soccer don't approach the hysterics from players in soccer so I guess there's that...

the rules never change
this seems like an misunderstanding of soccer. FIFA certainly changes their rules when they feel it is warranted. any living sport does this from time to time.

1. Tag football really isn't that fun past 5 years old.
2. Head to head impacts happen MAYBE once a weekend throughout the entire EPL schedule. They happen every play in football. Heading is a part of the game, but I've yet to hear of any old soccer players being bothered by it as they advance in years.
3. Saban and Bert talking about slowing down the game for subs in between plays. If you can't play 90 min in soccer you don't play at all. Depending on the country he players will dive, etc. The Spanish and Latin Americans tend to have a flair for the dramatic. You rarely see it in England, Germany and france.
4. He fundamental rules do not change. And any small changes they may make, i. e. goal line tech, etc. have absolutely no effect on the way the game is played whatsoever. I Can name you three rules changes in football in the past year, I can't name three in soccer since I began playing as a kid. And again, certainly none of them have affected the way the game is played.

at one time there were no subs, you could backpass to the keeper's hands, no such thing as red cards, and you needed two defenders ahead of you not to be offside...

Yes but ive been watching since the league started.
I follow the euro leagues much more.
There are some hardline MLS supporters on the soccer board tho.
That article is awful btw, if you even want to call that an article, looked more like a last min one page term paper from college.

cost of the header
RE: your argument about slowing down the game I'd make the point that's not a fair complaint about football unless you also admit that delaying tactics are a common issue in soccer that adversely affect the quality of play.

Watch a decent amount of premier league games. Most are badass. The few MLS games I've watched have been awful. Like watching minor league sports
Thats bc in terms of quality the MLS is around the top end of the 3rd division in England.

I played soccer growing up and enjoyed it, but I've never been able to get into watching it. The funny thing is I have a positive view of Hockey (although I only occasionally watch it) yet it's got a lot of the same negatives as soccer, lots of back and forth with nothing happening. I think it's because I'm impressed with how well they skate, anyone can run on a field, not everyone can skate. There's also checking guys into the wall. Those 2 elements add enough distraction that I'll watch what is otherwise a similar game.
