That's it. I mean, there is NOTHING useful about a MAcc as far as what you do for a job.
That's an exaggeration.it would at least seperate you from someone with no Masters at all.

A MACC is useless without getting the CPA license.

That's debatable. Assuming two candidates both have CPAs, a masters degree is negligible unless you're in Government or Higher Ed where a bureaucracy requires/favors a graduate degree.

Well, it worked out for me in a particular situation, so believe what you want that it is useless.
Probably about 80% of the time, you guys are correct. Like I said, it was an exaggeration, not that you guys are completely wrong.
In a very large company, they literally determine salary by what is on your resume, so it certainly can be a factor.
But for purposes of this conversation, you are likely correct that the MSacct is not really going to ever benefit him.

About the only usefulness of a MAcc is to get your 150 hours. That's it. I mean, there is NOTHING useful about a MAcc as far as what you do for a job.
Going to disagree here a bit. If you have a virtually identical résumé to a person without a masters, I believe it will come into play. It will not make or break your career bu any means though. Also, accounting theory, an additional audit and tax classes helped tremendously with exam prep.

If you are hiring for a large company, and you have two equal candidates, same hours, same GPA, same extra-curricular, same intern experiences, etc, and one has a MAcc and the other just got to 150 by changing majors or whatnot, then, yes, in that instance, the person with the MAcc might get the offer if only one is available.
If it's an MBA vs a MAcc, no advantage either way.
But that's only with helping you GET your first job. As far as actually doing your job... totally useless. I've had plenty of MAcc holders as staff accountants and plenty of non-masters degree holders as staff accountants and there has not been a single instance where the person's MAcc helped them outperform.
EDIT: In fact, I would even say the MAcc holders tend to overthink things and not want to work on compliance work - it's as if they think they are better than it. Yeah, they know the "why" something is taxed, but I can't get them to fill out the damn form right.

A MAcc is not useless without a CPA. It bridges the gap between your lack of undergrad in accounting. I went back and got my MAcc and after just a few classes in, I was interviewing for Big 4 and regional jobs. Then I got accounting experience, graduated and and glad I did it the way I did it the way I did it. I didn't want to get a general MBA, but if it's free, take it and do as many Accounting classes as you can.
