Has anyone gone "full Uber"?

I mean, like done the math and decided to give up their car since Uber was more cost effective. I could see how more folks could have a big city lifestyle (NYC) where having a car is optional given abundant public transportation.
Wisely leverage Uber with LSU bus service and maybe it beats out the cost of insurance, car note, gas.
Also, does anyone think Uber could potentially threaten CATS?

There's no way anyone in louisiana could do this. There's not enough public transportation to supplement Uber.

I'm going to be an uber fiend whenever I move to BR next semester

The people that rely on CATS for transportation can't afford Uber to get around everyday.

Um, no. Users are not in the same demographics.

That's like saying high paying jobs would threaten welfare

I live in Arlington VA near Courthouse Metro and recently bought a car. Before doing this I did the math. My conclusion was that having my own car was indeed more expensive, but not hugely so.
Full Uber plus public transportation would be a very reasonable alternative and I know several people at work who do this. It takes extra time to get familiar with doing route planning for each trip though, in the end I decided to just get a car and not worry about that, I'm at a point in life where it just isn't worth the money saved. But between Uber, ZipCar (rent by the hour), public bike rental, public buses and the trains you really can get just about anywhere.
Not that long ago I went on an African safari in Tanzania. I didn't enter a car or truck until I got to my destination on the other side of the fricking planet. I walked out my front door to a subway two blocks away, rode that to an Amtrak station, then to the airport, etc.

They are not competitors, and by the statement you just made, they are complementary services. So no, UBER wouldn't threaten CATS, only benefit them.
As a mid-city resident, I can take a direct bus to a few bars, and UBER home. (havent done it yet, but have been itching to try out this method)

I'm considering it since I can lose my car allowance for a business vehicle. I just can't do anything other than commuting in it. Can get groceries on the way home but cannot leave restaurant after drinking and drive it home.

i would think less people driving will probably save cats...and squirrels, dogs, etc

You would either overdose or die of a venereal disease in two weeks, max.

big city lifestyle (NYC)
It's always been possible to do this in NYC with taxis/subways/etc.

I could do this and it would be a little cheaper... but I'd rather have the convenience of having my own car like I do

No way I could function without a vehicle
