Daiwa Millionaire bait casting reel...

I was going through some storage boxes today and found this casting reel I bought new probably 30+ years ago. I never used it.
Is this casting reel hopelessly outdated by now?
It says "2 ball bearings, Hi-Speed and 5HS" on the side.
Anyone have experience with this reel?

Grease/oil it up good and give it a whirl. I like old reels like that. (Not for using, just for talking pieces, etc.)

Alo this could be a thread for this. I have a penn peerless number 9 I just found in a box that my grandpa had. Got some age on it. I really would like to get this thing in working condition. I don't even know where to begin restoring it. Much less how the reel works in general. Someone school me. I don't think the condition is too bad. Probably just needs some oil.

Friend of mine used to love them. Very similar to old Ambassadors. if the bearings and little brass plate thingies are good, it should be fine.

Nothing better than a vintage open faced

Like Alx said, if the bearings are in good shape (if no oxidation from sitting in storage), you should be GTG. It won't have the magnetic cast control feature that many "modern" reels have, but you shouldn't need that crap anyway.

I had a couple of those as a youngster loved those old brown reels then i went high tech to the diawa. "procaster" in the early 80's

My dad did for years!, had his stolen! If you still have it it would make an awesome bday gift!!
I'd like to buy it!
back in the early 80s someone stole all the dads fishing equipment including his Daisha millionaire. He still tells that story all the time. He even still has the box it came in with the spare parts that came with it

It is hopelessly outdated. The fish will know on the first cast.

Well, all of my Daiwas and Ambassadeurs, which are all that I have, are at least 30 years old.
Eta: oops, forgot about a rod n' reel combo that nascarfan forced me to buy last year at academy. He said I could fish with it for a few years and then take it back to academy.

you may want to see if it has collectible value before you fish with it. Being new in the box never used it might be valuable.
