CST showed the LSU/ULL game on tape delay due to advertising obligations

CST’s Ronnie Rantz says LSU’s baseball matchup with UL-Lafayette was tape-delayed because of advertising obligations
Rantz must be talking about Jumbo Sports's advertising obligations. Which are the same Sochem, Owen's body repair, and cable lock commercials they've been showing since 1998.

Cox Sports Television delayed the airing of LSU’s game against Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday night in the Wally Pontiff Jr. Classic at Zephyr Field, sending Tigers fans into an uproar on social media.
The game was tape-delayed — about two innings behind — after a softball game between Arkansas and Tulsa ran about a half-hour behind on the network.
Ronnie Rantz, on the broadcast for the game, made the decision to delay the broadcast of the game because of advertising obligations, he told The Advocate.
Fans blasted the network on social media.
LSU and Louisiana-Lafayette annually play once a year, and this meeting comes in the Wally Pontiff Jr. Classic, a game played yearly in Metairie and named for former LSU player Wally Pontiff Jr., who died at 21 of a heart abnormality in 2002.
The Tigers, 23-5 entering the game, are ranked in the top five in all of the major polls. The 10,000-seat Zephyr Field was nearly filled to capacity by the third inning.

That sucks. I walked up to purchase tickets before the game and was told it was sold out. Had to buy out of a local's hands. Damn shame people at home had to deal with this.

LSU should no longer allow CST to air their games anymore. Give them all to SECN.
This is some bullshite

don't care
it was an idiotic decision
the benefits of a tape delay do NOT outweigh the negatives. The fans don't care about your advertising and negative feedback in the long run hurts more

LOL, it's college baseball dude. What's the surprise here?

He needs to explain why they didn't break away from the softball game. Easy fix.

I'd be curious to know exactly what he means by this. As a guy that places ads for a living, all things being equal, if I had placed my ads to run in a live sporting event, only to then have them run in a god damned tape delay, I'd expect a drastic rate reduction at least. What I would have preferred would have been given the opportunity to have the ad run as placed or be credited for whatever did not run because the game was cut short.
If advertisers pay full price for a tape delayed game when they had purchased a live event, they ought to hire new buyers...

It would have been easier to explain to the advertisers the fact that people won't watch a baseball game on tape delay in 2015 (twitter,FB,etc) than to explain to fans why we should watch a game 30 minutes behind.
I turned off the game and plan on never, ever going to channel 37 again.

Who gives a shite. It's a meaningless mid week game. Jesus christ stop crying like little girls.

Lots of hurt asses in this thread. They might have fricked this up, but in the long run, CST has done way more good than bad. Remember getting to watch the Houston Classic games on TV? Everybody seemed happy then. Remember the game at Southern a couple weeks ago? Good ole CST was there so that you all didn't have to get off your asses and go watch from the overpass.
The faux outrage hère over one game is out of hand.

I may be the only person on this board that is not mad about the tape delay. I didn't get home until 8:30 last night and got to watch the game in its entirety.

I'm still wondering why CST kept an 8-2 Tulsa v Arkansas game on air when you have the most watched team in college baseball team coming on.

CST made the mistake of not cutting away from the blowout softball game that was slotted before the game... CST is garbage thank God the SECN/ESPN broadcast 90% of the games.
