After I watched that Beneath the Dome documentary on making Star Wars I was amazed at how close they were to going off the rails and making a shitty movie. John Williams and the guy that created the sound effects also deserve a lot of credit for how good Star Wars turned out.

Star Trek and Star Wars both had people other than Gene and George alone working on them from the point of creation. Those people influenced major characters and major plot directions and without that input, both franchises would have been significantly different.
