Sorry you or your kid didn't do as well as they should have. Take some time and either teach yourself or your kid some standardized test techniques.

Why do people make threads like this and then run away?

No, but I was a huge dumbass in highschool. fricked around and graduated with a 2.8 GPA. Got a 31 on my act. There were people so much smarter than me that got below a 25 just because they weren't good test takers.
The reason I posted about it is because my cousin has a 4.0 and is in the honors class at his highschool, but won't get many scholarships because he's got a 22 on his ACT. He's studied hard but just can't get it done. He needs a 27 to get the scholarships he needs to go to the college he wants. He's always been a bad test taker but is a lot smarter and driven than I was at his age. I just feel for him brah.

imo, ACT tests intelligence whereas your GPA is more work ethic then anything.

ACT scores don't mean shite when it comes to making money.

Funny you say this, but I worked at Chickfila in high school and this little trust fund douche told me this exact thing. Never forgot that and it motivated me like crazy to be better. Today, he's in and out of rehab and I'm in med school. Insignificant little comment, but it pissed me off to the point of making sure I succeeded.

You didn't get a 31, don't lie to the group.

I took my act like 7 years ago. I'm in grad school with no children

Friend of mine's son made a 22 as a 7th grader. He's not here to brag so I will. That's awesome.

In regards to how smart someone is coming out of highschool.
That is all

with a few exceptions for people who just lose their shite when it comes time to take a test, the smart people i know did very well on the ACT, the dumb people didn't.
Posted on 3/13/15 at 12:32 am to mattytiger123
quote:Great anecdotes. They still represent the exception. Not to mention, you seem to be basing "smartness" on your own subjective evaluation, which is surely less accurate than the ACT.

Maybe not accurate as to how "smart" they are but pretty accurate as to how prepared they are coming out of high school.
Exact opposite imo.
These tests are a good measure for aptitude, but don't really give any indication for how well a student is prepared to succeed in a classroom.
I scored a 33 and I did not have a stellar college career.

There are colleges, including some elite schools, that minimize the impact of test scores, or don't use them at all. He should do some research.
