First two as a snippet - click link for other seven

quote:

1) Popular culture says so. Pop culture these days will try to tell you we’re all dirty, racist, hateful, bigoted, sexist pricks with an ego complex that would rival Greek gods. (Granted that last one is accurate, but I base that solely on the fact that my hair is f’n incredible.) Only an idiot would sign up to be seemingly unilaterally reviled.

2) Cops run toward danger. Huge bar fight? Man with a gun? Domestic violence with screaming and blood? Most people run quickly in the opposite direction. I would argue that those who run toward that kind of thing are idiots with little concept of self-preservation.

Agree or disagree?

I know plenty of law enforcement officers that are smarter than 90 percent of the OT.

I say 90 because some of you are doctors or engineers. The rest just a bunch of plant workers.

I would never be a cop. That being said, we need them so I'm glad some people feel called to do so. It's ridiculous to lump them all in a category and say they are all the same.

#7 is a nonsense argument. My job often has me on construction job sites. Construction workers and those who work on construction sites are more likely to be killed than cops. Maybe I should start a construction heroes blog.

Completely agree. That being said, I think he was simply attempting to bring some humor into what is currently a burning issue in this country. The media over-rationalizes a few incidents and it makes every cop public enemy #1. We have a much larger epidemic in this country with crime and murder, hell according the OT we have more issues of teachers sleeping with students yet I don't see picket lines in front of schools calling every teacher a rapist or molester. Kudos to MC for having some sense of humor yet trying to rationalize the recent issues in Police perception.
