I have an open mind. Most here bash cops no matter what. IF that makes me a troll so be it.

The fact that JPSO had someone go looking on this kid's facebook page and presented pictures of this kid drinking with his mom the day after this incident just proves how ridiculous they're being about all of this.
lol, no it doesn't.

The bottom line is that there is video of the cop grounding and pounding a 17 yo kid.

Any jury you put together will award damages for that.

JPSO will eventually settle.

A jury in jp? Your chances are not nearly as high as you think they are.

You act like 17 is 13.

The fact that they are more concerned with instagram photos from weeks ago than taking a statement from the officer involved sort of tells me they are operating with some confirmation bias.

Without knowing the complete details of what actually happened, I can only rely on what I've seen on the news and in the paper. It looks to me like the cop over reacted, but Becker doesn't come across as a sympathetic character to me either.

What I find really confusing is how Becker and the other witnesses (10, 20, 32, whatever) are all saying they didn't know Breaux was a cop and he never ID'd himself. If this is true, who were they yelling "frick the cops!" at?

I think the cops and the kids are all full of shite, but if the kids hadn't been yelling and trying to out the undercover cops, none of this happens. And I don't want to hear about freedom of speech and civil rights, it was stupid. Plenty of things are legal and within your rights as an American, but outside the limits of common sense.

They were yelling at the uniform officers that arrested their friend for smoking weed. Breaux was undercover.

This is exactly what I think happened.

Why did Breaux have his hand on his gun? Was he going to shoot one of the kids if they got too close to him.

I have no idea what was going through his head, but a much more likely reason he put his hand on his gun was to make sure a. That is was still there after wrestling with the kid to the ground, and b. To make sure nobody in the crowd could take it from him.

I find it funny too that JPSO released it so they must think it helps their public perception...

I know, goes to show you how out of touch they are. They somehow actually thought this video supported the officer
Now instead of us just seeing him punching the kid, we see him throw the kid n the ground!

First I've heard about uniformed deputies on the scene. Why didn't they handle the "rioters"? Usually at a parade, if you see one cop, there are five others within a few feet. There's no JPSO manpower shortage at a parade.

Which brings up another question, if uniformed cops are making the drug arrests, what are the undercovers there for? MIPs?

So I am to believe this kid did absolutely nothing and got randomly taken down by a cop? That doesn't pass the bullshite test.

Correct I don't think anyone believes that. I think most assume it went something like, kid or someone in group yells F the police, cop approaches kid to intimidate him (no other reason since he broke no laws), two start mouthing off to each other and then cop proceeds to teach him a lesson. Kid shouldn't have acted like a punk but that doesn't warrant an arrest and most certainly doesn't warrant an arse beating.

being a retard isn't a good reason for the cops to take someone down. Even if the kid legitimately did something to be taken down, the issue should be the level of force used in the video. Even if the kid said frick the cops mother it doesn't give the cop the right to dish out punishment as he sees fit. Arrest the kid but he went over that level and it was caught on video. The JPSO jumping through hoops to protect a bad officer should alarm all the good cops.

The good cops are really hurting themselves by trying to cover and make excuses for bad cops.

The undercover cops bust the peeps and call in the uniformed cops to make arrest and transport so they can stay undercover. They spotted this kids' friend smoking pot then busted him. The marked officers moved in to take the pot smoker in custody and that's apparently when the "frick the police" chants started.

So if that's true, Becker definitely had to know Breaux was a cop, right? Still doesn't justify the beat down, but at a minimum, Becker is lying about not knowing he was a cop.
