I am definitely getting certified to own a hand gun. Two houses have been hit in our neighborhood over the last year. What is to stop it from being mine next time?

Where are you located? If in Louisiana, there is no permit or certification to own one.

I live in the neighborhood where this happened. I didn't know I didn't need a certification or permit. Then I guess I will be purchasing one very very soon.

My family and I live in Bluebonnet Highlands (Springlake & Fairhill), along with several of my close friends that also live there.

This has been an ongoing issue with Gardere-area trash. They strike between 10 A.M. and 2 P.M. during the week while hard-working folks are out earning a living. Burglars hit many houses in our area over the last year, including one of my friends mentioned above.

This has been a long time coming, unfortunately. I've been saying that it was only a matter of time before a homeowner came home for lunch or had the day off of work and defended his property. Chalk one up for the good guys.

Only need certification or permit to carry one around, you can keep one in your home no problem (pass background check in order to buy it)

ps - take it from me. I have a .357 unloaded in a locked briefcase in my closet (with only one loose bullet rolling around) that'll do me a lot of good if I need it.

You can carry one without a permit, just can't conceal it

The people robbing the house probably weren't the brightest. All I see here is natural selection at its best

I thought since the casino, new CVS, Walmart, and the rumor of new shopping center near Bluebonnet/Nicholson, that Gardere was on it way out

Your troll flew to close to the sun.

If I'm in my house, I don't know what you are coming after. You are putting me in danger, and if you don't respect my safety and property, I don't respect your life.

To the OP, you don't need a permit to own a gun, but if you don't have experience around guns, I hope you look into some lessons and practice to become familiar. Also be a responsible owner. Guns are a good thing in my book, but I think there's been two toddlers in the Houston area that shot themselves recently after finding a gun. I find it's the people who don't respect and understand them that end up in these situations.

Well put.

People these days just can't seem to get their priorities straight. Typical of this "me-first" entitlement attitude that seems to pervade every part of our society.

I am not saying it is related but the begging guy that has multiple threads about him lives about 2000 feet from there.

He is the guy that approaches people in gas stations and restaurants, making up reasons why he is in a bind and needs money.

Seriously? I'm sure the homeowner was worried about more than their tv. I live in the Westhaven subdivision down Burbank from Summerwood. Just had a shooting on my street a month or two ago. Gardere trash is taking over

Are you just trolling?

So you are saying anyone is welcome to come in and take anything of yours and you won't do anything about it? How do you know they won't try to kill or harm you? I am not taking any chances, you break into my house you will get shot and I will not feel bad about it. I am glad the guy is dead, I truly am. Get a job and quit robbing people while they are off at work making a living and paying taxes to feed you and your 10 babies.
