Each phone comes equipped with Samsung Pay, which is Samsung’s new mobile payment system that is built on LoopPay’s technology. For those new, LoopPay’s payment technology works with magnetic card readers, but Samsung Pay takes that further, allowing you to pay with NFC as well.

Other notes:

Each phone is crafted in metal and glass, with Gorilla Glass 4 covering the front and back. They are lookers, that’s for sure.

The cameras use F1.9 lenses and 16MP sensors with OIS.

Uses world’s first 14nm mobile processor with 64-bit platform, new LPDDR4 RAM, and UFS 2.0 flash memory.

Uses world’s first 1440p/VP9 hardware based codec to stream high resolution video without sucking so much power.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be available globally starting from April 10. Color options include White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (S6 only), and Green Emerald (S6 Edge only).

Samsung Pay

quote:

Samsung will be equipping the Galaxy S6 with two mobile payment options: NFC and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). NFC you're familiar with—it's what Android phones and the iPhone 6 have used for mobile payments— but MST is a completely different animal previously found in LoopPay, which Samsung recently acquired.

Basically, how it works is when you open the Samsung Pay app, you select a card, and authenticate with Samsung's built-in fingerprint sensor. Then, in what I'm going to just describe as tech magic, the app generates a signal that even old card swipe terminals can recognize. This is awesome because now you can pay with your phone anywhere that isn't some cash-only establishment.

Battery size shrunk from the S5. And what's the point of two different battery sizes?

Watched the event. Excited about the 14nm cpu and DDR4 RAM. Hope they come out with some external battery accessories now that they have the battery built in.

Will wait for the CNET review. I've got the S5 now and I don't see the point in buying the S6 just yet.

I actually like the design of the phone. We still arent 100% sure of what processor it will have in the US. The real test will be whether touchwiz still wont lag in 6 months. I'm not sold yet.
