Jennings certainly has the advantage. Harris is going to have to put in some long hours to overtake him, but it's possible.

What is there to "know" or "learn" about the offense when you only throw it 15 times/game and half of those are with two TE max protect and a one receiver route?

Seriously what the hell is there to think about? Snap, drop back, throw to travin? How hard is that?

Playing QB is just that simple.

Oh the fricking irony here.

Success is a pretty broad term. Championships, conference or national, and the less than 2 argument would be incredibly short. I don't think it's out of the realm of rational thought to assume a QB getting all the snaps would get better throughout the season. AJ's best QB play was in the second half of the Wisc game. He never reached that level again.

I don't put all of this on Cam though. AJ was not his and Harris was a true FR with not a lot of football under his belt. While last year was incredibly frustrating, it is understandable in some aspects. This year, there needs to be significant improvement, regardless of who's playing.

He needs to produce THIS YEAR. Or

Not sure what your definition of "produce" means. However, if this happens:

quote:

"Quarterback is a leadership position. Now these guys are older, I want to see them lead and get out of their own little worlds. "Some quarterbacks spend all their time worrying about what they've got to do. They don't realize they're not leading the team.

"Given the stuff we'll do this spring - there's not a lot of surprises out there - Anthony and Brandon's personality should come out on the field. I want their personality come out. I want to see them play with confidence, not worrying about the formation or the cadence or the check-with-me.

we're on the right track ...though we might witness this with one of the QBs if they don't progress:

quote:

"The downside of a young quarterback is he spends a lot of his time thinking what he's got to do and what everybody else on offense has got to do instead of thinking what the defense he's facing is trying to do.

..while the expectation by now would be this:

quote:

"Our guys know our offense now. Once you learn the offense, it gives you more time to spend reading the defense. So now it's 'where's that free safety, what's the stance of that corner - is it man or zone, where's that linebacker's eyes looking, what's the front?

..and this:

quote:

"I don't say that arrogantly at all. From what I've already seen in the last month, I'm very confident our quarterbacks will play extremely well this season.

"Some of the biggest indicators I've always seen over the years that leads to future success are how quarterbacks step back and reflect after taking their lumps.

"How do they view it? The ones that view it with an 'I've got to get better' approach, you see their work ethic increase. You see a different focus. If a guy is made of the right stuff, adversity will mature him quickly. If he isn't made of the right stuff, you'll watch the guy implode. It's usually one of the two.

"But I've watched Anthony and Brandon in their morning workouts these past few weeks. I know what they're doing in the classroom, and they've made a change in the classroom, gone to being really good off-the-field. In the weight room, (football strength and conditioning coach) Tommy Moffitt is raving about their effort, their leadership and their communication."

It's still a growth position, but you would expect reasonable, measurable, and functional progress.

Successful at running their offense efficiently. Championships are a team metric.

The reality that few care to acknowledge is that most QBs aren't equipped to be "the guy" to lead a team until their junior year. Sure, you'll get a Manziel or Winston here or there, but those are exceptions to the rule.

FWIW, I think Harris could be another exception, but he's got to go out and take it.

I think we will see improvement regardless of who starts at QB and WR simply due to experience, and a full year under Coach Cameron and the offense. Fournette, Harris, Dupre, Quinn, and DW all showed flashes of talent but also of youth and inexperience. Jennings, Dural, and Diarse also did not have much experience coming in. I am a big believer that you tend to see lots of progress between year one and year two.

Harris should have played a lot more last year. I hope he asks why he didn't.

Giving him his first start on the road at Jordan-Hare and then benching him when it didn't go well is not the right way to handle a quarterback.

Harris will be our QB. I am confident in that. He is a much better passer and a faster athlete. He needs to gain 30 lbs though. AJ regressed as a passer last year. Great kid, works hard, teammates love him, but not a good QB.

He is until he isn't.

BH has two ways he can win the starting job, as I see it.

1) If he is that much more talented and if he puts the work in until it becomes clear to the coaches that he is the man. I think it's possible. As mentioned more than once, he may not have put the work in last year, thus holding himself back. I'm not sure how true that was, but it's been repeated enough that I wonder.

2) If AJ fails to show improvement and BH shows at least a little improvement.

Option #2 would obviously be the more painful way to see BH take the reins. It would mean AJ hits his ceiling or just doesn't have the confidence to become a gamer. And would mean BH is not necessarily that much better.

I don't really care which of them starts as long as they play better than last year. I think BH not having much experience last year hurts him, but he appears to be talented enough that I don't rule him out. He will, in any case, have spring, summer & fall to continue learning the system, which gives him the opportunity to improve.

If what has been speculated is true, I hope he knows why he didn't.

I think AJ must look very solid in practice and just shits the bed in games.

He's a smart kid and works hard and maybe he is money during the week.

Obviously Cam knows why, I am saying I hope the reporter asks him so we can STOP speculating with all these bullshite rumors being perpetuated by high schoolers on the Tiger Rant.

I agree. Offense as a whole is returning experience at almost every position. If it gets worse, there are no excuses to be made.

5th year senior QB

And please stop comparing us to Bama. That schtick is fricking old. We get it, Nick Saban is the best coach in America. He isn't coming back.
