Looks like tough fishing. Good luck to all if that thing happens.

Stay safe, that little cash isn't worth sacrificing one's life.

yet another situation where someone has to make a weather-related decision that will not be popular.

Good luck to him!

I might ride down there for the party.

That's the thing. If they go with the whole "if one person wants to fish" thing and someone gets hurt or worse, it's going to be the end of it.

Why not just do what's prudent?

Also, how do other tournaments handle this?

It's gonna get rough. Not dangerous. Unless you're in a boat under 30.

the crew I was fishing with decided that getting beat up for 80 miles each way wasn't worth it. Look like I will sit on the dock at the camp and drink beer and stumble to the weigh-in and festivities

I have been following THT thread and I can't imagine even attempting to fish in the kind of seas that will be out there this weekend. If by some chance you can manage to slug it out to the fishing grounds the props will be barking over every wave just trying to troll. Not to mention trying to stay standing and work lines. Even a 33' freeman will be getting damn near vertical in a 10' 5 second wave.

We had the boat in Houma so it was nothing for us to drive down. If the tournament is a go and the forecast changes for the better we are going to give it a try, if it gets too bad we will turn around and head back in. If we do go I will have my whole crew wearing life vests, wife has a copy of our float plan, ditch bag will be placed in an easily accessible spot, and and i will have my SPOT on me at all times. My crew and I have fished "sporty" weather before and know the risks involved but we will implement all safety precautions necessary to return home safely.

What kind of boat ya'll fishing from? I do really hope that the forecast is a bit conservative and it doesn't pan out to be as bad as expected. I can't imagine being the one that would have to call this thing. If it happens again next year i may sign up to fish

Interesting...when I read yahoo tournament, I thought that the better plan in view of the weather would be for everyone just to give their money to him anyway.
