The only answers are LeBron and Messi, and Woods.

The reason I say Wilson is because of the bill Russell argument. He is in an ideal situation to pick up a couple of rings early and then improve as a player and finish his career leading his teams to rings. Any quarterback with 6 or more rings would be considered the GOAT by many people, and that number is not all that rediculous for Wilson.
Ya, in his division it is a cakewalk!

4. Lionel Messi

6. Serena Williams
7. Rafael Nadal
8. Lebron James
9. Cristiano Ronaldo
10. Sebastian Vettel
Good starting point. I would drop Tiger to 8 and bump everyone up.

8. Lebron James
9. Cristiano Ronaldo

That would be perfect for euro-fgts but this is the MSB so we are talking about real sports, not women shite, tennis and kickball

No it doesn't.
How so? Peyton Manning or Tom Brady WILL go down as the best QB to ever play.
Peyton is reg season GOAT. Brady is post season GOAT.

LeBron has the best chance but I am not sure he has the balls to take that title
Has nothing to do with his testicular fortitude. He plays in a much more competitive era than many of the all time greats he's compared to.

I would think Luck has a better chance than any of those have.

Is it just me or are pocket QB's never athletic enough to consider them GoAT's? I'll say Wiggins.

NBA
Lebron
Davis
Kobe-not gonna be but he's more in the discussion than some give him credit for. Until Lebron equals his titles Kobe is ahead of him and maybe even then.
NFL-by position
Brady-QB
Gronkowski-TE
Watt-DE-love him but he's still got some ways to go just to catch Jared Allen imo
Kuechly-MLB
Peterson/Sherman-CB
Thomas-S
MLB-position
Kershaw-SP
Trout-CF, though he will never pass Griffey in my eyes
Cabrera-dont know what position but his numbers will put him in the discussion somewhere
Soccer
Messi
Tennis
Serena Williams-already imo
Federer-depending who you ask may already be
Golf
Rory
NASCAR
Jimmie Johnson
Boxing
Mayweather
Lebron
Davis

Tennis is in an interesting place in that the woman's GOAT is active, the all time GOAT is active, the single surface GOAT is active, the player who achieved the highest level is active, and all of them are different players

So better track, shoe and clothing technology has no effect on time?
Sure, but Bolt obliterated the 100m and 200m world records.
He is the GOAT in those two races. He has the 3 fastest 100m times ever and 4 of the 6 fastest 200m ever.
quote:
Performance at the highest stage is a much better indicator of an athletes' true ability, and Lewis is ahead of Bolt in that category.
Not really. GOAT in track is the fastest of all time. That is Bolt in the 100m and 200m.
Lewis might be GOAT all-around track performer because of his skill and success in so many events though.
quote:
you can be certain that Bolt's record will be broken soon enough
And I will instantly call that person the GOAT in that event for which they own the World Record. If Bolt hadn't pulled up at the end, his record would stand for 40 years IMO.
quote:
I suppose by your logic that Jesse Owens is a worse sprinter than Trindon Holliday?
Yep, in the 100m. He bested Owens by .3 seconds. (while also playing D1 SEC football at a high level might I add)
We have evolved. It doesn't diminish what Owens did, but there is no subjectivity in a stopwatch. There is no direct influence by competition.
This is what makes Bob Beamon jumping 8.9 so insane. He was an athlete decades ahead of his time.
Having a world record quite literally means you did something better than anyone ever in the history of the world and in this case, its an individual event so its even more concrete.
