Very true. That's why I wasn't automatically blaming the cop. However, once he had control over him that should have been it. The minimum amount of required force is suppose to be used. That didn't look like the minimum amount to control a 150lb HS student from that position.

When will cops get the freaking message that this will buy you a quick administrative leave?

What a douche to act like he's in a real fight.

I think some of you misunderstand cops dilemma.

They don't have the luxury of knowing who is and who isn't a more formidable threat during an altercation.
Yeah we all know some types folks are more likey to cause trouble than others, but I'm sure this guy's ultimate goal is to go home to his family every night.

Taking a perp lightly just bc he's in hs and white doesn't make situation safer.

Bottom line is the info on that video doesn't tell the whole story and when a cop gets you don't resist.
It's really not that difficult.

That's what training is for. A 150lb HS student that is much smaller than the cop is clearly not much of a threat or he's in the wrong profession.

His skin color doesn't matter. His size and age are more important.

Very true. The ending of the story is what we're discussing. My issue is once he had control in a dominant position he could have arrested the guy without repeatedly hitting him in the face.

JP's, as they are called locally, have had a horrible reputation for dishing out arse beatings since at least the early 80s. I can't attest to anything before then, but as a high school student, working at East Jeff Hosp, I can't tell you how many times the ER curtains were drawn and JP's went behind the curtains to quiet down someone that was handcuffed to a stetcher. Granted, the person receiving the beatdown was generally drunk, loud, and obnoxious, however, the persons GREATEST crime was pissing off the night shift nurse with whom the JP was having relations.

If you grew up in Metairie in the 80s, there were just certain things you knew, like:

1. The Maple Steet bars would let anyone drink, and during the summer, there would be tons of folks out on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
2. Pied Pipers had great pizza, and during fooball season, there would be big crowds on Friday nights.
3. All Jesuit attendees and alumni were homosexual.
4. Don't frick w/JP's

You are very wrong.

All the student did was put up his arms against a charging undercover cop. Other cops are going to give him up and testify against him. From what witness have said there was some talk about how easy it was to pick out undercover cops. Someone pointed to a cop and said they knew him or heard him talking to other cops. The kid later pointed toward the undercover cop. The cop charged at him. Before impact the kid raised his arms in defense. Charges against the kid will be dropped soon. JP is trying to get by with the cop being suspended but the lawyer for the kids isn't accepting the deal. They want a trial and jail time for the cop. Maybe for the cops that watched and tried to cover up the many camera phones. They could have easily intervened.

There are many more videos of this incident. And it doesn't look like the JP office will defend him more than trying to limit liability.

What? All the information was on the table. Had the kid pinned. Punches to the head did nothing. You are an idiot.

Can you link any videos?

Sounds like you might have legit info.

Correct, he was with a lot of people and there are more videos. I think maybe waiting for JP officers to purger themselves at legal councils request.

Note they didn't charge the young man as far as I've been told with anything but resisting arrest. And I do not believe he had words with the cop. But pointed toward him. I know people always come forward and say what a great kid they are when things like this happened. This guy is really respectful and as long a I've know him pleasant to be around. I've never heard of him in a fight or any thing close to warrant this.
