See your points but the NFL draft and early departures stunted last season more than recruiting misses.
Let's look at the big instate misses(those are the only real misses. OOS kids can t be relied on and be considered misses IMO. Tony Brown maybe because he was always considered a lean) that would've been on last years team
Landon Collins-a miss but we were fine at S during his 3 years. None of our losses were attributed to bad S play alone. The early season losses last year were mostly because the entire defense was not there yet.
Cam Robinson-LT wasn't an issue last season and shouldn't be this season. Maybe in 16 but that would only be 1 year since Cam will be gone after his Jr year. So maybe a 1 year loss overall. Not program crippling
Speedy Noil-when missing in wr cripples LSU then it will be the first time since Saban woke up the program. We are loaded at wr and will be throughout Noils career. Could he help? Sure but him being or not being in the team isn't gonna be the difference between success or failure.
Gerald Willis-the only one that could've made a huge impact last year but he wasn't great for UF and the fact is we are better off without his cancer in the locker room. If he weren't an idiot then maybe he could be someone that hurts by not landing him but in reality he did us a favor by not coming to LSU.
Feel free to name any other kid considered misses and I'll break down why missing in them had no effect on our success or lack thereof. Our program has been crippled(according to expectations only. Its not like we are Vandy level bad)by bad qb play and development, overall inept offensive scheme and imagination and crippling early defections to the NFL. Missing on a small number of major recruits had nothing to do with it. The players we had/have are good enough to win national titles. In some cases they are just too young and inexperienced and in others not helped by the offensive coaching. Our talent level isn't the problem. These misses are much bigger perceptionally and emotionally to most fans and alike then in reality. That stuff is in peoples heads. Until we start missing kids in droves, recruiting and talent is not our issue.

Excellent post. I agree with everything except the point about Landon Collins. We sucked at safety the year before last. Last year we were fairly good, but Collins would have been a big upgrade over Martin.
Also, while out oline is good, we would be even better with CRob. And just imagine if Hawkins and Vadal had declared.
