Have these things changed that much? Remove it, clean the cylinder if you can or if you need to, gap it, replace it, torque it and reconnect the wire. Seriously, have spark plugs changed that much in the last thirty years?

I would cut your loss and replace the truck. I have had a lot of experience with fords. Chevy way to go.
