In software/IT it's typically chicks with zero knowledge of IT other than buzzwords or acronyms. You get the feeling their only real skills are smiling, not shutting up and trying to get dudes to buy them drinks at night.

There are a few good recruiters out there, but the majority that I come across seem to hire young attractive females with little experience and it really gets kind of annoying....they don't know who is capable of filling what

People who recruit for the military are like car salesmen, but where everyone in the whole country gets fricked.

I know so many folks, particularly chicks, who are retards and got general business degrees in college. Now they are recruiters.
There are retards in every field, recruiting is no different.

A good recruiter will go after people that are already employed and not currently looking. I've taken 2 jobs when I wasn't even looking
Ill accept this. But, it still boils down to a who you know, not what you know with a recruiter.
Perhaps in a larger field a recruiter may help.

Somebody is butt hurt because they didn't get that job they were looking for.
When I was in the biotech industry, I knew several excellent recruiters in that industry. I would politely listen, and if the job wasn't for me, I would always send them a good candidate who could get and want the job they were placing for.
When one of my referrals would be placed, I would get a phone call from the recruiter thanking me for the referral. I would always tell them they could thank me by keeping me in mind for that perfect job and they knew what I was looking for.
A good recruiter is worth their weight in gold.
Trust me, you're thinking about this all wrong.

Sometimes professionals are asked to go around recruiting.
Career/the recruiting position? I have no idea.

Y'all got it backwards. Anybody can hire the wrong person.
Good recruiters are extremely important to companies that value talented employees. Find me a successful company and there are successful people in that organization. Good recruiters find those people.

What's the point of recruiters, when there are tons of job search websites?
Who do you think reads all those submitted resumes?

The real recruiters are finding people who aren't looking for a job.

Is it that ignorant of a quote? I've met very few people in my lifetime that can do both well.

I've always wondered how much your typical recruiter makes.
The IT recruiters from Texas trying to get me to move to applebeesville can be pretty annoying.
