quote:I didn't really like the commercial but come on. It was obvious that they just picked typical girls and didn't try to find "macho" ones.
And when you consider that of all the girls they filmed, those examples were the ones they deemed most "macho." It makes the ad all the more insulting to girls

Most people he knows probably need a little help with that.

You guys are dense. My post was clearly sarcastic.

I thought it was a great commercial. I can speak from experience, since im a girl and all, that it's true about the correlation of puberty and girl's plummeting self esteem. Being a young lady in this world isn't easy.

That commercial has been playing on youtube for months.

Let's all deny the fact that most girls aren't built to be good athletes, on par with males. Let's all pretend that girls are victims because men, that's right, MEN, those cultural demons, place unattainable expectations on women's ability to perform athletically the same as men.
Let's all pretend that "throwing like a girl" has no observable factual basis, and then we can chastise anyone who ever uses that hateful phrase.
The clear message - women are victims who need protection from the pc police to help protect their fragile self-esteem.

The only problem i had with the commercial was when they showed the younger girls and they said throw like a girl, well she threw like a girl

Hold on, I'm going to go find a stale Colbert joke to insert here so I can mask my intellectual deficiencies while mocking you.

At least he was once an Olympic athlete. He has a little more room to judge than you nerds.

The assholes on this board never cease to amaze me.
A commercial about encouraging young girls and we complain about the country being gay

I have identical twins. Beautiful 10-year-old girls.
I have them focused on doing their own best. Not comparing themselves to other kids, and especially boys. At least, I try.
When they do something really well, I give them a sly grin, a fist pump and say, "not bad, for a girl"
"Thanks dad!!"
I've made doing things like a girl be a compliment. I hope it gives them strength down the road.

The point of the commercial wasn't helping them throw better It was the "like a girl" is seen as an insult.
Which, I admit, if you are a guy and you are told that, yep.
