Just have some much going on, but yet some days I just can't do crap. Hell, I need a job.

I just happen to have a slab of oak that is 2 1/2" thick sitting on the mill bed, an easy 15" wide and around 10'. It is green. I can cut it down to 6/4. I also have some pine slabs that are sawed 6/4 and they are an easy 15"x10'. Those were sawed out about 6-7 months ago. Still kind of green. Pine dries very fast compared to oak. All are live edge, both sides.

I can saw up something that will match your 10". What you looking to do?

Not the best picture and I'm not home to take a another. I want use the piece of live edge for a shelve at the top. This is going to be an outdoor cookstation. Everything else is fence boards and pressure treated pine.

In that case, one of the pine slabs I have would work out great for your project. You could cut it down to fit.

$20 for one and you have to come get it. I'm just outside of New Roads and I don't think you could find what you are looking for for under $100.

Bump..

I'm looking for some help, suggestions, or pictures of some homemade gun cabinets.

I'm not looking for anything spectacular, just your traditional, wooden gun cabinet.

TIA - this is one of my favorite threads ever on TD

I've thought about making them before, but have never gotten around to it.

This picture looks pretty cool. You wanting to do glass?

Yea.. that basic design.. not sure if I'm going to go with the reclaimed/rustic look.. might be more contemporary

In thinking oak would be the best type of wood for this, right? What would you (or anyone else) use?

ETA - I do like the way the wood in the back looks.. was initially thinking about using felt for the back, but the 'paneled' wood looks cool

This might be a stupid question but do people actually store their guns in a cabinet full time? I've always wanted one myself but always been reserved about having my guns out on display rather than protected.

All the old men i knew only had wood cabinets with a picture of a deer on the glass. I never saw an actual gun safe until i was about 25.

I'm mid way through my patio, boat shed project. Formed it up myself. Hired Mexicans to pour it. I plan on building the rest myself. The post started going up yesterday.

******
Update, basically finished the patio/ boat shed. Came out pretty good for my first big project.
I pre cut all the rafters so they would all go up easily.

The 1xs took the longest to put up. 900 board ft I believe.

One of the harder parts was figuring out how to mount the rafters in the u section of the house. I had to get creative

Last of the roof is on

I tried it out last night, and it does indeed drink beer well....

That's awesome... I always get caught up mid-project and forget to take pictures of what I am doing.

I have tiger foot in there, it may count.

I figured all the pics may help someone. I searched the internet pretty good and didn't see exactly what I wanted.

Is the metal roof tied into the asphalt single roof in a way that makes it waterproof?

I'll use a mirror system...
No that's to come. Just need time

As far as the tie in, the flashing is shoved under the shingles, then tarred in. I have checked my roof a few times when it rained and so far so good.
