it starts the night before. prepare preworkout, protein drink for after workout, workout clothes, and work clothes.
9 - bed wife
10 - tv, shite, whatever
11 - sleep
5:15 - wake up. brush teeth, put on workout clothes, grab preworkout, protein bar, workout bag. 12 minute drive to gym. drink shake, eat protein bar on the way
5:45 - arrive to gym, GO HAM
7:10 - 7:15 - drink protein shake, leave gym
7:25ish - get home, shower, get dressed and at work for 8
it was tough the first couple of weeks, but i've been doing this for close to a year now. it's makes for a great start to the day, and just puts me in a WAY better mood at work. I definitely get more things accomplished while at work after a morning workout. i can't really go back to afternoon workouts, just because i gotta be home to help with kids(have 2 toddlers). my wife wakes up with them and drops them off at the sitter on her way to work
even if i could go back to afternoons, i wouldn't

I don't see how y'all workout on an empty stomach, frick that noise. No way are y'all putting in a beastmode workout if you've been fasting for 8 hours. You're just going through the motions.

as opposed to going in the gym after work, dragging arse with that "2:30" feeling?
sometimes i'll have a glass of milk and a banana or something right before i go to bed. and i eat a protein bar(clif builder's bar) along with my pre-wo, and that usually gets me going. i find i have a lot more energy in the morning as opposed to the afternoon

Wake up 3:30 drink whey, milk and creatine monohydrate. Next drink cup of coffee then off to gym. Arrive at gym for 4:00 work out until 5:00 - 5:15. Drive home take shower and leave for work at 6:00.

It's true. Keep believing that bioscience that it's good to workout on an empty stomach. You're burning all your fat cells

Kids have destroyed what daily routine I used to have.
This was the main reason for me to start working out in the morning. I work out before my child wakes up.

I don't feel good when I try to work out on an empty stomach. I need to at least eat a banana and drink some water. Protein shake + banana is good. I usually eat 1/2 cup oatmeal and a few eggs for breakfast. If I'm doing cardio I can't eat that much, though, or I get sick.

For those of us (like myself) who genuinely don't know this stuff...what is the best thing to do then?
Like I said earlier I read that info in a book but it could obviously be not entirely accurate. What's wrong with fasted working out? Does it matter if you're more focusing on burning fat or building muscle?

It'll be tough at first, especially if you're unaccustomed to waking early
I wake up at 7:30 mostly everyday and it has never got easier.

No way is anyone who works out on an empty stomach for 10 hours going to get as good of a workout as someone with energy. You don't see any athletes playing a game on an empty stomach.

burning fat or building muscle?
Build muscle = lift heavy weights

You can loose more fat and maintain muscle by consuming less calories and still lift heavy weights.

I wake up daily at 4:40.
2-3 days per week, I get dressed, drop a deuce, and am on the road by 5:00 to run 7 miles.
2-3 days, I get dressed, drop a deuce, and am in my basement working out by 5:00.
Weekends, I wake up at 6:30ish and run long distances. This frees up the rest of the day for family and alcohol.
