Did you work for shuttle program in some capacity?

You couldn't sell T-shirts with a different space shuttle on them?

I was 6 but I still remember it pretty clearly.

I was 7 and remember we watched it on tv in our classroom....along with pretty much every other classroom in the U.S.

My mom has always told me her and I were in a Sears and she happened to be near the TVs when this happened. I was 1.5.

I was in 2nd grade class watching it. Never forget that thing blowing up or the terrible feeling we all got immediately afterwards. Bad deal.

I watched my job disappear
Years after the tragedy, I ended up becoming friends with one of the widows and actually rented her house for a brief time in the mid 90's. She put on a nice facade but she was sort of lost in it all even that long after. And their kids were so troubled and had so many questions about their Daddy.
I'm sorry you lost your job that day, but so many others had it way worse. It still makes grown men cry when the subject comes up. I've lived in the same neighborhood as a lot of engineers that worked that program and it's not something they like to discuss.

I was in 2nd grade. I still remember our teacher telling us what happened.

I was 10 and remember like it was yesterday. Sad day for sure.

I remember watching this on tv in school. I was 6 and still remember it fairly clearly. Truly a sad day.

So sorry you lost your job. If only those people's lives weren't lost on the shuttle, maybe they could make it up to you.
Have you contacted the family of the deceased? Maybe they can help you out with your loss.

I heard about it leaving class from the EE Building and walking over to Hatcher Cafeteria for lunch. Even the atmosphere in a college dining hall was different that day - less kidding around and loud talking.

I wasn't even alive. Feel old?

I saw it go down in my kindergarten class.
A couple of weeks ago I was going through some old stuff from my parent's house and found a Challenger fridge magnet from when I was a kid.

What is even more horrifying is that the astronaut's cabin remained intact after the explosion. They were all believed to be alive when they hit the water. The best anyone can hope for is that they were unconscious due to the cabin depressurizing.

I wasn't alive, but I was in high school for the Challenger. I remember seeing that there supposed to be a sonic boom as it would pass over where I lived. I had a baseball game that day and commented that I never heard the boom. Went home and saw on the news that it never made it past Texas. Couldn't imagine being involved with the project in general.

Can't believe that was 29 years ago. I was in seventh grade at the time.
