According to the Washington Post, Apple sold more iPhones in the last quarter than all TVs sold by the entire TV manufacturing industry.

And if you lined up all of those iphones lengthwise, they'd wrap around about a third of the earth. If you stacked those iphones on top of each other, they'd be over 600 times taller than the tallest building in the world and extend beyond the International Space Station's orbit.
This quarter, Apple sold over 23,000 times more iPhones than there are tigers left in the wild.

Meh. Record shattering sales, record shattering $18 BILLION for the Quarter. Business as usual as far as I'm concerned.

Did you know if the iPhone was made out of cheese apple has sold enough to make 1/3 of the worlds population obese if they ate it?

I find it hard to believe that less than 75 million TV's have been sold ever.
ETA: No, I'm standing firm on this. It's bullshite.

I read that as Apple sold more iPhones in the last quarter than all TV manufacturers sold TVs in the last quarter FWIW.

That's exactly how it was meant

Okay, makes a lot more sense. I'm sure Apple has been doing that for quite a while actually.

That sounds just like an Amazon press release.

A small sampling:
quote:
Amazon customers purchased enough Elsa dolls to reach the top of Cinderella's castle 855 times.
If all of the Percy Jackson Heroes of Olympus books purchased by Amazon customers during the holidays were piled up, they would be more than twice as tall as Washington State's Mount Olympus and Mount Olympus in Greece—stacked on top of each other.
Amazon customers purchased enough Sophie the Giraffe teethers to equal the height of 788 real giraffes.
If every Amazon customer who purchased a copy of Pokémon Alpha Sapphire or Pokémon Omega Ruby this holiday season caught every species of monster in the game, they would have collected more Pokémon than the entire population of the US.

I was actually inspired by the countless episodes of Unwrapped I watched on Food Network. Every company they covered loved to say how many times their yearly production of Twinkies/pies/chips/donuts/etc. would wrap around the world.

Which makes sense. A ton of people upgrade when the new model comes out. I've bought 6 iPhones new since I bought my last TV. My wife has bought a few uses ones to replace what she broke in that time as well.
