I've been meaning to get my cousin and buddy their first hand guns as gifts (wedding and 1st child) and went to Palmetto State to today and I was shocked at how cheap stuff is now. There were so many good deals I wanted them all. Kahrs, S&Ws, ruger, Taurus, etc all in the 250-350 range.

I settled on getting them SR9s with the laser for $299/each so they could have the option to carry if they wanted to get their permits. I thought that was a great deal seeing as how those were $475 guns a few years ago when I bought my .380.

Is this a result of the gun bubble popping or is this just to be expected with these models getting a little older?

Didn't know I needed a laser to carry.

Ammo prices are dropping also.

Function check and shoot those SR9s well before they plan to protect themselves with that particular firearm. My dad's had a bunch of malfs last weekend... Stove pipe, FTFs etc. I know that's not typical for ruger but they may have had some QC issues with that particular firearm. Other than that, good on you for being an awesome cousin/friend.

And to answer your question I think personally that the internet has changed the game when it comes to pricing firearms and with the market being flooded because so many people buy during "panic" times that there is probably a huge slow down during "non-panic times" and you see a massive drop in prices on firearms that are not staples, or ones that are latest and greatest technologies.
