Next year LSU could possibly have the most talented group of RB's the school has ever had. Such a diverse combination of backs that if there was ever the season to make an argument for LSU to run the wishbone, next season would be it! I'm not really serious with that comment, just making a point. But my God, what a group. Ducre will arguable be the most powerful of the group, and he has speed to boot. LF7 will be the most versatile of the group, then Guice is like a souped up Justin Vincent. Williams and Brossette have an excellent combination of tools as well. Hell, LSU should run a wishbone-spread offense. (I have no idea if this offense exist. Probably Ga Tech runs a system similar to the system this implies.) I really believe, if LSU runs an offense similar to the one ran against tAm and Notre Damsel the offense will be much more effective and will give Harris a better opportunity to play. Just a little proficiency passing the ball and with this o-line coming back and the talent at RB, LSU could have a offense productive enough to make a run at a championship. No doubt the D will be dominant. Even with a few players leaving, LSU has quality backups that were productive on the field last season. But Jennings has got to make some strides in the way he runs the ball. Did anyone else notice, against the Damsels, the last LSU drive when it was like 3rd and 13, LSu ran a read-option, Jennings kept the ball, ran around left end, headed up field and with like a yard to the first down line two Damsel players converged on him and instead of barreling through the tackle he seemed to stop and ball-up his body to protect himself from the hit. It was a move and a play where Harris would have got the first down by running through the tackles. Maybe Harris would not have made the first down, but I know either one could have gained another foot by running through the tackle instead of stopping and cowering into a ball. It's plays like that where other QB's would have got the extra foot or so and made the first down yardage. Jennings is just not good enough passing the ball to strictly rely on his arm for production. And with him seeming to be scared to get hit, it makes him a much less valuable asset for the offense. I don't have a link to that particular play I was referencing, does anyone know which play I am talking about? It may not have been LSU's last possession, but it was at a time LSU needed to run the clock down. LSU doesn't need a 'gunslinger' at the QB position to be a NC contender next year, they just need a smart QB who can make some deep throws if needed. With the threat of a long pass there, the defenses can't stack 8 and 9 in the box. Jennings has shown the ability, at times, to throw the deep ball. So, though I'm not really serious about the wishbone-spread, it would be interesting to watch if Jennings could improve some. Or Harris improve some. Sorry I wrote so much everyone, please forgive me if I've offended anyone. I am all the time. And to anyone who isn't!
