Makes sense the hire is today since the dead period ends tomorrow. Him not being hired by LSU made him available to talk to any recruit these past few weeks.

Wouldn't doubt it. The guy lives and breathes recruiting. He's been breaking down tapes of high school players in-state all fall even though he didn't have a job.

No he hasn't. But he never left college recruiting at heart. So he stays in touch with the prospects in case he did take a job.
You can't recruit and talk about recruits by name on radio.

I remember Guice tweeted Kyle Phillips something along the lines of "Talk to Coach O before you commit to Ole Miss or Tennessee tomorrow" while at the Army All American Game. Wish he would have listened, but that kinda shows that Coach O has been on the trail.

I've heard that too... Specifically when it comes to CeCe Jefferson. Suppsoedly Ed O has a great relationship with him. And a few days ago he unexpectedly scheduled an OV to LSU, while we were in D Coordinator limbo. And today we hire Ed O.
Could just be a coincidence... Or could mean something more.

maybe, but pretty sure the dead period has been in effect up to today. So he can't "legally" recruit.
