It's amazing that the same fans who hated "3RD and Chavis" are now saying the hire was terrible because Alleva went from Chavis to Steele. Wait, 2 weeks ago after we let Chavis walk he was overrated. Now that it benefits your argument, losing Chavis is suddenly a great big loss and the program is in a state of demise... This is great lol.

We spent 2 weeks of athletic dept. dime to hire a failed, crying assistant coach.

People are gonna be mad.

No one really thought LSU would hire Steele as DC. I'd take Chavis back in a heartbeat.

you are nuts, losing Chavis has been a huge blow, the ball was in LSUs court and wouldn't make contract concessions. We get a mediocre man to replace him, Chavis late game problems are more an issue with being paired with an incompetent offense for most of his tenure.

LSU just went from 3rd and Chavis to 1st and Steele.

You happy?

Chavis jumped the sinking ship and LSU hires a proven failure to plug the holes. Happy?

ETA: I never thought Chavis was going to leave, not did I want him to. Sure, he pissed me off at times, but he was up against a wall with LSU's offensive philosophy. He knew it and bailed.

I never said Chavis wasnt a loss. I always thought it was dumb to let him walk. I just didnt brainwash myself into believing he was a shitty DC just so i could sleep at night like alot of posters here. If you havent seen then talk about how chavis was overrated then you just havent been on the rant lately.

I've been pretty consistent with saying Chavis wasn't perfect, but he was a good DC. I said it was possible for us to upgrade after he left. However, that didn't happen. You're lying to yourself if you think Steele is a better DC than Chavis. The people spouting this narrative would be burning couches right now if we made a hire equivalent to that of Chavis.

There was some excitement to seeing a new approach to our Defense, especially maybe seeing more imagination in our D Line play....but this crap tempers any excitement or hope. He really is a terrible coach when given any level of responsibility.

No one ever wanted him back, he is just bad at his job as a HC or Coordinator. Hopefully we get better results, but history tends to repeat

This smell something like when Curly Hallman was hired as head coach. It was the Athletic Dept saying " we just want to turn a profit, and that's all. We don't really feel that football is worth our time and we really don't want pay for a top dollar coach. Just don't lose money." I hope its not like the Hallman hire. With the other names out there that don't have a shitty resume, it just doesn't make sense.
